moredoorAsh Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Hi all, does anyone have any pics of a mk2 escort(4 door if poss) Lowered 2" with these wheels on with 185/60 tyres on, or know for sure if they will fit or rub! I've bought a set recently but have concerns about them rubbing etc and i'm unable to test them on mine as i have no front legs and the rear is also stripped down Cheers all
RossMK2 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 i think if you want them to fit when lowered you have to bend the lip on wheel arch i know my wheels are close and mine aint lowered
Joe-ashtonmobile Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 here is mine, lowered 2inches on 175/50s you wont get 185s on the rear without rolling the arches
livewire7116 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 just one thing wrong with those pics............ they have superlites fitted and he said minilites! unless he got it wrong
emu Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 If he means minilites, then im afraid I dont know. If, however, he does mean superlites then I do. They will go on, but you will have to cut your arch lips right back flush on the rear and trim them on the front. Even then, dont expect to be able to carry any weight in the back.
Chris! Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 The ones in the top pic are deffo minilights
1600gtxlr Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I've got 7 x 13 Minilites with 185/60 x 13 tyres on my Mk 2 4-door, only lowered by 1 inch though, but I've had no problems. Was going to get the rear arch lips adjusted to give more clearance when i got it resprayed but there was more than enough clearance so didn't bother.
moredoorAsh Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 These are the wheels inquestion.....i was told they were minilites They don't look as deep dished as the others!!! or is it just cos there not polished
moredoorAsh Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 I was told they come from midland wheels!!!
RossMK2 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 does it say Compomotive on centre cap? that would explain why edit: are they deffo 13? i havent seen these at midland wheels edit edit: just seen tyre size saying 13"
moredoorAsh Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 Yeah they have compomotive on center caps.......without the risk of sounding real dumb (wouldn't be the first or i dare say the last time ) is compomotive the make and would that make any difference to the fitting rubbing situation?
Fiesta Steve Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 They are Compomotive ML's, the off-set should be on the wheel somewhere, if you can find that out we can have a guess by comparing them to the off-set of the Superlights etc..
moredoorAsh Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 ML1370-1 Is this the offset might have the 3 and the 7 round the wrong way should have written it down!
BaileyMex Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 They are Compomotive ML's, . Agreed THESE are original Minilites
Fiesta Steve Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 ML1370-1Is this the offset might have the 3 and the 7 round the wrong way should have written it down! I guess the 3 and 7 are the right way around denoting the size ie 13x7 but not sure what the 0-1 means, sorry !
moredoorAsh Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 Wait till its bolted back together and try it will proberbly be then
you'll get 10s on that Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 Yes they are compomotives as identified by the round icon between the spokes. You need to check the wheel mountingface closely it should be stamped with a D which identifies that they are 4x108 and they will also be stamped ET0 or maybe ET6. This is STAMPED on the mountingface. The ML1370-1 you mension is CAST into the wheel. Superlites are ET-6 and that is why they are always an issue with fitting. If your wheels are ET0 they will sit 6mm fuether inboard that those troublesome S'lites and if your wheels are ET6 they will be a whole 1/2" further inboard (12mm) I think either option will be OK on a Mk2 Hope that clarifies
moredoorAsh Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 Clear as mud They have D and ETO stamped onto them, so all good i'm thinking

MM77 Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Hi i am after a set of minilites for my mk2 escort with tyres anyone recomend where to buy from,i have also seen replicas are they any good thanks Mark Midland Wheels
dustydog Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 would 13x7 fit ok its sits quite low on single leaf springs mark
livewire7116 Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 "IF" you want genuine minilites try west wales rally spares, or you could go for the revolution minator which is a pukka looking wheel and a 0 offset, also have a slightly thicker outer edge to rim so nice and strong if you clip a kerb while drifting
