Mr Sam Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 keeping my options open and NOT going matt black Btw but people who have satin/matt blacked a car with rattle cans, how many cans did it take??? i did my black fez in 2k a litre of base coat and a litre of top coat so took a litre to cover the car im guessing 2 500ml cans arent going to cover a car thinking of going some wacky halfrauds colour for this season
bomber1 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 think i used 8-10 cans on the mk2 escort i done tho they were 300ml i think? been a while since i done it just bear in mind if ur using lighter/brighter colours it will take more
mk3tina Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 it takes about 1 500ml can to spray an area the size of a door, so work it out from there. for a mk3 cortina it took me about 10 cans of matt black.however to get a good finish with gloss colours it takes more coats so you may end up looking at about 20 cans.
GT_lenny Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 i dunno how many cans it would take but i bet you could rent a compressor and spray gun cheaper
Mr Sam Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 ive got access to compressors and got my own guns looks like it will be just as cheap todo a quick blow over like that thaks peoples
Mexico Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 if you got the gear, go get a big tin of the stuff lol
escort new boy Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 jawel were doing a litre of celly an thinners for £18
914Driver Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I painted a car with very thinned paint and a foam foller. 10/10 finish! 10 feet or 10mph it was perfect. It's also cheaper than rattle cans. Dan
bortaf Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 i did my Disco in 5 tins of satin they were large trade size though 750ml mind you i masked the decals do 6 would have done it easy
Skoty Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 i used about 20 cans including primer to do my old fiesta. i done all inside the boot and door shuts and stuff aswell.
vibrating_Cake Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 25cans for the capper that was primer with a bit of rubbing and re-priming in places . they were the tall but small ones (not the big ens, but not the tiny ens lol) ebay if you want a finish thatll last a fair few months i'd rattle it with a fair few layers, if not itll just not last =)
baz105e Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 seven 500ml halfords cans to do my fiesta, scotch it down and spray streight over the paint that was there before, no need for primer
