finally completed the selection process for my dream job! got back yesterday from the fire training college where i had to do my final assessment and passed it.

i am going to be still working in the ambulance service but will be taking on the new role of a HART Paramedic on a hazardous reaponse team.

off to do 2 weeks training in BA use next week then got another 7 weeks of courses in urban search and rescue including high level rescue, collapsed building rescue and water rescue as well as chemical stuff :D

Well done mate. Sounds like scary stuff, you deserve whatever they pay you, then some! I couldn't do it.....

 

no pay rise unfortunatly, in fact its gonna cost me to do it as got to travel 100 mile a shift :sad:

Do you have to do any fire ground training as part of your BA training? The Advanced fire fighting course sorts the men out from the boys!

not got the course details yet but i know we do the smoke rooms. a lot of it is geared towards collapsed building and confined space rescue with lots of tunnel work.
