Out of interest. Being a T5 I was looking at, tax could be quite high on newer cars. When did the new tax law kick in and for what year'd cars?

I assume it could be nearly £500 to tax one of these if I went for a newish one?

Cheers

Jon

The highest road tax groups only apply to vehicles registered after 23rd March 2006. Everything up to then is capped at Band K so will be £245 from April 2010

The above comment would have been true a few years back but traffic cars are the better buys .

Traffic police officers gernerally are very anal about their cars and my Volvo was mint everywhere yet had done 121k

Yes certain cars met in particular get a very hard life ,but i avoid those ,the police also run "company" cars which are no different from any fleet but slightly cheaper

Training vehicles have been good for me ive had several and there was the pms jag and the royals range rover were sold recently both were immaculate

Marked stuff can be very tatty ,all depends on how much you spend

Id still buy another one ,we run a Fiesta 1.4tdci that Derby police once owned ,its mint and has done 44k from new !
