I'd like to put 'I don't care' but that would be untrue. I care that it means a lot to some people, I care that some people would rather pass a rep off as an original for financial gain. I care that there are a thousand and one 'badge snobs' who would put people down and criticize their OSFs because they don't have the correct finish on their wheel nuts. What doesn't bother me though is what model a motor is, whether it's a base model Escort with 12" rims and no carpet, or an unmolested original Twink or a totally stripped out racer. I love them all, and would own any of them.

scott do you think the navy has an old "buff" log book for the victory?

+ do you think it says "boat" on it or "victory gt":lol::lol:

I think it says Victory A'rd B'Stard: Spaniards / Frenchies beware

A bloke at work kept calling my Mk1 a "kit car" cos I fitted bilstiens, genuine Mex wings and 1300GT/Ashley etc. In the end I was gonna nut him lol. At the end of the day its what you want it to be and makes you proud and happy to drive.

to me a supersport must be built on a supersport shell. then its original.

if its built from a 100cc shell but using a supersport logbook and all the original parts its still not a supersport as the ID goes with the shell and the shell is dead.

One shell, one id. Changing ID's and reshelling makes it a replica in my mind.

Anything that says HAD A RESHELL to me means its not the real thing.

But if it's reshelled into a supersport shell with no ID does it remain the real thing even though the ID goes with the shell and the original shell is dead? (I quote)

good point.

yes its a supersport but its a ringer

Ok, well how about a car rebuilt using a service shell? It's not a practice that happens anymore as cars have become so complex it's too expensive to re-shell them. But when our cars were new it was relatively straight forward and you could buy a service shell from Ford. So, what does a car that has had that done to it qualify as?

It would be exactly what it is, ie a re-shelled Supersport or whatever, in theory it should be reregistered though, shouldn't it ? I know that never always happened though..

Not a replica, just a re-shell.

years ago my old boss had a seirra estate. His dad rolled it when it was only a few weeks old. That got another brand new shell and kept its original Registration. I would assume the chassis number changed though :?

I dont see any problem with replica's or re-shells or whatever.

Provided its not to mislead or for financial gain as such. For instance, an original genuine twincam escort is always going to be worth more than an twink engined 1100L, no matter how good a replica it is.
