I had the bolt on version on an english axle which was made of thicker steal and bolted to the back of the flange using the top two bolt holes, I also welded them just to make sure. I didn't have any problems.

I have now changes to an Atlas and bought the same brackets that you have. They are thiner but bolt on the front of the axle flange and make up the space of the back plate. I think they will be strong enough but I would agree the welding is pretty agricultural.

One thing I did have to do was grind/file down the caliper sliding bracket where it bolts onto move the caliper in so the disc ran centrally, it was about 1mm. I tried to simply bend the arrow bracket but that just put the caliper out of true with the disc.

I also found with the Arrow kit the calipers arrived in great condition but the finish didn't last so I would suggest so caliper paint before you fit them.

I'll be fitting everything up this weekend so I'll let you know how I get on.

good luck

I've only got the brackets as i already had calipers. I know there isnt that much braking force on the rear but i just think heavy braking on a track day and the bracket could bend or snap the welds?

Is the other option to make a spacer to suit and then weld some proper brackets on the axle?

You have your doubts, so would I, I think I would be looking for the nearest river to aim them in,

You have answered your own question there!!!

I think the brackets are strong enough, Rally Design do a similar type. The braking force exerted on the bracket is a rotating force and the bracket though thin is strong in that plane.

very sorry i sent those brackets out, they where the last pair i had and i always put off sending them out, i always did another pair instead. i was never happy with the welding, my welding is much much better than that, i pride myself on it. i promised i would get the brackets out quickly and as this was the last set i had i sent them, i should have redone them and advised of a delay, i have already offered a full refund on these brackets, no questions, no problem.

due to the nature of the axle end on an atlas it is difficult to supply a thick bolt on bracket, there is no flat surface to mount a bracket, this way the bracket replaces the drum, using 4 bolts and the retaining plate to provide strength.

anyway, sorry for supplying those brackets, it wont happen again, gutted and apologise for any problems caused

old ford auto services do a set of brackets which are a bolt on item and are laser cut from good thick steel then they are zinc plated, they mount the 5ierra calipers and line up spot on, some people may think they are a bit pricey but as far as im concerned i got an excellently well made item which looks far superior to whats shown and no welding in site so no weak links as they say

Apologies if i've offended you, the post was not a dig at all, i just wondered if anyone else uses them with no problems, its one thing the supplier saying they are fine but my reason for asking was for a an un biased opinion. It appears some are using with no problem.

I appritiate you've offered a full refund and bear no grudges if thats what i decide to do.

thanks for that leon. glad you are happy, feedback is most appreciated. im always happy to hear feedback, good or bad, if its good im pleased and keep doing the same, if its bad i want to change what is bad and make it better, people who have my stuff are a valuable resource to me, they have ideas and opinions that i want to hear, improvements, suggestions, anything.

as far as the caliper brackets go im going to improve them in any way i can, im positive they are up to the job but i want my stuff to be the best.
