johnny_h Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Was driving home from the garage after yet another day of going nowhere with the mex and noticed this ingenius use of black duck tape. Anybody else got any other great styling tips?
deluxe Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 may be its not for styling but to keep the door shut. But in my humble oppinion the door lock on mr bean's mini is more stylish
Gareth Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I saw gaffer tape used to make viper stripes on a capri once. Needless to say I saw it in the knacker's yard
RETRO_AL Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 i used insulation tape for some stripes on my mini bonnet
capriclive Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 if you get a roll of ducktape and pick at the corner you get a very thin string like piece. stick it along the side of a car. it looks just like a scratch. done it many a time. good for a wind up. not really a styling tip, but there you go.
orionmojo Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 why though. the mk4 escy aint that bad. i'll bet the duct tape rips off the lacquer when its removed. its not osf yet, but how may people said that about the mk1, 2, and 3 escort, lots i'd say. what about preserving it fir the future.... no chance i know retards FFS everyone wants an osf, but no one wants to make sure they're there in the future winds me p good and proper. and then everyone calls themself an enthusiast
Daveyboy20 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Duck tape is an integral part of my capri at the moment!
105Nick Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 why though. the mk4 escy aint that bad. i'll bet the duct tape rips off the lacquer when its removed. its not osf yet, but how may people said that about the mk1, 2, and 3 escort, lots i'd say. what about preserving it fir the future.... no chance i know retards FFS everyone wants an osf, but no one wants to make sure they're there in the future winds me p good and proper. and then everyone calls themself an enthusiast The Mk3 is not a classic, and a champagne MK4 never will be, cos its 80's shite and its front wheel drive.... they should'nt be preserved cos they should never have been made in the first place!!!!
orionmojo Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 so what about when someone wants a non sunroof track day car? and theres non left cos everyone scrapped the base models. no one has any foresight
antz Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 so what about when someone wants a non sunroof track day car? and theres non left cos everyone scrapped the base models. no one has any foresight i do agree actually. because think back to the 80's when our beloved 0SF's were bargain bin cars that you used for bangers and ragged into teh ground as a winter hack. now they are well loved cars. well just think that at the moment these mk4's and stuff are bargain bin cars but the prices of them are actually rising slowly and i think that in the end they will be a classic car! yes they dont have RWD but thats what makes them unique!
fezza Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Dont think this was the intention of this post but the mk4 escort will never be oldskool but maybe a classic one day can i just say it gets right on my t*ts when people are talking about oldsksool the term FWD always gets used, the mk1 fiesta is an oldskoolford like it or not
Paul F Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 On the subject of forethought...I keep seeing this mk3 3door escort in my village, and I always think to myself, is it worth just buying it off the owner for some silly little amount of money, then just keeping it locked up for 10 years or so, then sticking it on ebay with the title "Classic mk3 escort, perfect to re-shell your xr3...they sure don't make 'em like this anymore...etc etc" At the moment saying those words about that car just sounds wrong...but you never know...
antz Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 you are right about teh FWD bit. i think that the mk1 fiesta is a true old skool car! i even contemplated getting one a few months ago until my bank statement came adn i rememerbed im penniless.
Mr Sam Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 mk4's have far to much plastic to be old skool saying that id love a 3 door mk3/4 as a daily driver whack a zetec on carbs in the bay and leave it ratty
orionmojo Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 so is old skool just gonna die out i'm not so sure. it wont be the same, but whatever. maybe i just have different views to some people, and i just dont see cars as expendable items.
bomber1 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 at the scvg show on sunday a guy come over to us saying he has a 3owner mk3 xr3i with only 5900 miles on the clock and wants 4k for it now im no lover of these but if it was what he said it was. that has deffo got to be a bargain. if i had the space and cash i would have it no probs
