Probably a fortune.....The paint alone is expensive, and according to our ICI rep, a nightmare of a colour, especially to match up at a later date..I asked if this would suit a mk2 escort, and he said it was to modern a colour...I`d like to see it though if you get it done...

theres good jobs and cheap jobs but never a good cheap job.

I'll ask the boys at work if they're up for it. How good is your prep gonna be though?

Trouble is, alot of proper painters don't like painting cars that haven't been prepped by them selves, as they don't want to put their name to a bad job.. Not that I'm saying you won't prep it properly, but it is fair enough I suppose

i did this work 15 years ago ,its the good prep that makes the finish/if the person sprays it and it turns out crap.dont blame them .rubbing down welding is a long drawn out job to get right especially on cars like we have .best to let them finish the prep of may cost a bit more but worth it in the end : :wink:

yeah it really does need to be prepped very well

and as above alot of painters wont entertain it unless they can prep it theirself

st orange....3 stage pearl i think  gonna cost alot , one of our painters sprayed his 206 in this colour, white ground coat, 4 coats of orange , then copious amounts of laquer  even at trade price it cost him close to 800 quid for the paint alone

i dont no about cost but i know a painter in wokingham that will happily paint a car that has been preped by someone else. hes really good to but obviously your prep would have to be great as already said. his bodyshop is called imagination creations. you might have herd of it? he is going to let me hire his paint booth when im ready to paint my escort myself.

Yep that paint is a 3 stage pearl and i was going to do the van this colour but at £1,000 just in materials ,i left it yellow !

Sorry to say that the St orange is old hat now and you would be better finding a different shade of orange thats not pearl to keep the cost down

subject to prep we could do it for approx £2500 in a metallic shade

St orange would be nearer £3k !

Let me know

How about vista orange then?

Hi

When i was looking at the ST orange, the cost of materials (i think it was a 3 stage paint?) was off putting, but the paint supplier suggested a Lamborghini orange which was very close in shading, but about half the price!!

Trouble is, i can't remember the name of the colour, other than it was one of the new ones!!!

cheers
