shouldnt even think about putting a Vauxhall engine into a Ford.

Whats the general feeling on putting foriegn engines into osf's??

I reckon it's the equivalent of cross-dressing. Anyone who puts a non-Ford engine into a ford is therefore a transvestite. :D:D:D

There are hundreds of hi-po Ford options to choose from. Vauxhall's are sh*te.

Unless, of course, this is 'OSV' and I've mistakenly logged onto the wrong forum! :D:D

Each to there own....Then again you could`nt have been in a nice ~OLDSKOOLFORD~ powered with a (Sh*te) Vauxhall engine

And as for Transvestite. . .

see you @ the Ace in my dress then!!!!

I will be the one in the Mk1 cortina Vauxhall powered...

I wont be hard to find in my make up and high heels!!!!

Yep... I'm a bit 'old fashioned' like that.... personally I think Ford car, Ford motor....

There are plenty options out there, Zetec, Cossie YB, and now the Duratec.

XE's built their reputation in rallying where people were spending fortunes on them to get the power up and they respond well to big money tuning.

Well now those same people are going to Duratec because they make stonking power when they are worked, lighter engine etc etc

I dont think a standard XE will make much more power than a standard Duratec on Carbs / Throttle Bodies

And judging by Morelys 'average' quarter mile times in the OSFDC the XE aint all that its cracked up to be, unless you spend a fortune on it.

oooh you bitch :bitch::lol:

In my defence it wasn't built for the quarter mile... If it had been, it would have been a saloon, it wouldn't have had that god awful gearbox and it wouldn't have been on 175 hard as old nails tyres.

But i've got to put me hands up and say that the Pinto does take some beating over the 1/4 mile.

As for which is more powerful blah blah blah

It's down to choice at the end of the day. Some people don't like the Zetec engine some dont like the XE. As long as it goes and makes all the right noises, surely that is all that matters?!

The way I see it is that you whack twin 45s on a XE and you get 180bhp with a decent exhaust. To get that from a Zetec with the same torque and so on you would need to do more to the engine.

As far as im concerned, a XE will give me more go for my money, plus I love the engine and have worked on loads when I was a Vaux tech.

Yes its a Vaux engine in a Ford, but its a good Vaux engine so thats cool.

Its an old Vauxhaul engine I know that....

And Morely, I'm just getting your back after your Wheezy 16v CVH comments...

I got 180 from my Zetec with just a pair of carbs, a 4 branch and Focus12 Cams from Kent.

On a Duratec you just need to bolt on a pair of decent Direct To Head Roller Barrels and you will see 180 easy.

BUT If its what you know and you are happy with it... fill your boots.... or your engine bay.

Fair enough... I'll give you a race when i've finished building the turbo'd, supercharged and nitrous injected 1298cc chevette engine (that's just the starter motor for the jet engine in the boot) for my Anglebox :twisted:

Thats my point tho mate, you gotta use cams for a Zetec and 2ks worth of throttle bodies on the Duratec.

But as you say its each to their own.

Would that be the Gold Plated Throttle Bodies for £2k sir ?

The Titan Roller Barrells work out about a grand with the trumpets etc

Traditional Jenvey bodies are cheaper.

Including the managment system, injectors????

TBO I have never heard of titan throttle boddies so cant really comment on them, but Jenvey and so on I see all the time, for the size of throttle boddies, 38mm, 40mm, 42mm and management you would need to make decent power and not be restricted to 180bhp would cost between £1600-£2000, thats most likely running the base map for the throttle bodies too, so would need mapping also.

Your probably about to shoot me down in flames with price quotes you have got, but thats cool, cos if its cheap enough I will get them for my XE, LOL
