xpackken Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 I am sorry to ask so many questions lately but I am parts shopping and being new to mk2 escys is so different to capris , there is so much more chouce a options and tbh it is quite confusing , Anyway todays question is , what's is a wcxm , advantages etc. , also with me fitting the nissan sr20det will I NEED to use one ??
GJUK Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Cool, something I can help on. WXCM is a World cup crossmember. These are designed to be stronger than your nomal corss member and limit the enginer movement. One of their advantages is if you take off and then come crashing down to the ground you don't put your sump through as you land. For escorts at least there is only 1 type, but you can buy x flow and pinto mounts.
over_head_cam Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 You will find though that with a WCXM there will be more engine vibration in the car so personally I would chassis mount the engine which may work out better anyway if you're going for a Jap lump. You will have more room around the engine for exhausts and steering etc too.
sambo Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 If you are putting a foreign engine in an escort, you can get WXCM without the pillars for the engine mounts so you have enven more room to chassis mount your engine.
mk1mexico Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 And WCXM's with normal rack mounts or lowered rack mounts Who said there was only one type?
