4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 loving the stance you have on those revo's Daz! Cheers mate, do you own all the cars in your sig? Some stunners there Your yellow 4 door is a stunner! I love the stance on mine too but im gonna have to raise it a bit and sort the front suspension out, the previous owner cut the springs down to just 2 coils The rear is lowered 4" at the moment. Not much daylight to be seen underneath I own the mk2s and th orange mk1 is my dads! thanks bout the yellow one! i love it! I have some spare coil springs if you want them? u can have them for free, pm me if u like!
dawesy1700 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 i've just done this to the four door in my sig, ride height adjustable coil overs, £40 to have them welded, £45 for the kits n £30 for a pair of springs, should help you get the perfect stance, so thats £115 plus a bit of elbow grease and hammerite and your laughing. Can i ask you a couple of Q's please mate? Im thinking of converting my struts to coilovers but the standard strut casings are only around 46 - 47mm thick, the threaded coilover tube is made for a 51mm strut... Did this cause any problems when welding on and also have you used anything to fill the 5mm gap between the strut casing and the threaded tube? Hope that made some sense?? i measured the struts on mine and they were only approx 2mm thinner than the threaded tubes but i think my welder popped a few spots of weld on them then filed them down to be a nice fit, then gave them a good weld top n bottom and hey presto, a pair of coilovers for less than the price of a single coil over from burton etc etc.
New_Skool Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Stunning cars, thanks for keeping this thread alive Daz, that really is a lovely looking 4 door! My car is still completely standard at the mo, although i nearly bought some superlites at Ford Fair on Sunday lol. Work shall commence in the winter if she is still with me. Hope to see some of these stunners at Battlesbridge on Sunday. I'll be in mine (hopefully).

Mr Day Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Always liked four door ghia's n if i had 1 it'd be like Daz271's,thats 1 seriously nice car's you've got there always thought Mick the cabbie's was sweet to,both simple but so right!
4 door escort Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Hi New_Skool 100bhp from a crossflow is quite simple, i have 106bhp from a fairly tired 1660 running a mexico head, twin DCOE's, a 234 cam and electronic ignition so a set of 40's and a good camshaft should see you around that figure on a 1600 running good compression and as for pic's, as soon as i remeber how (or if anyone want's to refresh my memory) i'll get some piccies of my little more door up cheers 4 door escort

Unclebuck17 Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 I never fail to be amazed at how many gorgeous 4 door's their are out there and for such a long time they were seen as the poor relation to the 2 door, but that's certainly not the case anymore. Here's a couple of mine to add in to the mix:
Billy_smith Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Another more door just finished will be out at some of the meets this year So you found some revo's in the end then nicki! looks really well mate
Mick The Cabbie Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 God I love your yellow 4door unclebuck17. It looks so right Didn't know you had the 4door bug as well Nick. Lookin good in da Ghia spec & purple with the white 7" Revo's. I do like the way that most peeps are building their 4doors with the less is more approach!! Without wishing to offend anyone, rally reps & RS wannabe's in 4door shapes don't quite cut it, IMO..
