SmokeEm Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Fook all - I'd spend the 2k on the Capri
Stu_B Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Mk2 Golf Gti or a vento VR6, maybe a passat 1.8t
72mk1escort Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 ford focus cheap and cheerful and reliable get the 1.6 zetec for economy or get a 1.8tdci focus good cars
zetecmk2 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 a good mountain bike!! or another capri

garyv6100e Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Something like this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p big enough for Mums Taxi and diesel as well
Admin Vista Posted August 24, 2010 Admin Report Posted August 24, 2010 406Hdi 110, the estate is cavernous and the executive model (if you can find one) comes with all the toys.
Mrs O/H/C Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 I already own a oldish M o n d e o ....Not keen on Pugs I am thinking maybe a Va*xhall Vectra/Astra Any good/bad points to look for on the above ?
Boreham Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 modern diesel's are money pit's if something goes wrong... we've a 01 Mondeo diesel and between fuel pump..injestor pump.. dual mass flywheel and clutch.. water pump.... it's cost us the bones of €2500 £2000Stg. in the last 12 months... it wasn't worth selling..with the bit's on the way out..and a case of better the devil ye know.. Go for something simple.... personally I'd buy a clean Mk1 fiesta..very reliable and you'll seel it.. after the winter if yer not too attached to it... http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... highlight= http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=120354 http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=118864
baz105e Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 the vectra is a good car, i drove an 02 model a while back and i thought it was really nice to drive, plus you'll pick one up about 7 or 8 years old for less than 2g if you shop around
GT_lenny Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 if its only a temporary motor then buy the cheapest piece of shit you can and spend the change on the cappa

Octavia diesal appear to be very reliable... knida like a panzer tank with wipers..and not turret..though..

Mrs O/H/C Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 2002 vectras are going for around £1500 +
Von Thrash Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Deffo BMW e30, very well put together. I've had 5, all cost less than £500 each, a total of 25-30k miles between them with a total of 2 breakdowns. Mk1 fiesta is a nice idea, (iv'e got 2), but they're too easy to nick, you worry every time you leave it parked up. £2k would get you a very nice e30, and would probably keep it's value a lot better than modern, soulless vectra/mundaino/peugeot wind tunnel shaped blob.
Grizzley Dell Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 if i remember your driving right babe i'd buy a volvo
Fiesta Steve Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 2002 vectras are going for around £1500 + There's several for less than a grand on ebay but I suppose it depends on what condition etc the car is in. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-VAUXHALL-VEC ... mobiles_UK

moredoorAsh Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 E36 BMW, 2.8 suprisingly good on fuel too. I average nearly 30mpg which is the same as my previous 318i's and they fly when needed... ...oh and they love the rain Should get a good 1 for £1000-1500 and the nuts of 1 for 2grand and nearly as tough as a volvo
