Is It true that you cant put a new plate on and old car ?

 

For example a new style 03 plate on a 1991 car ?? Any one

Nope, the plate has to be the same age or older

You can't make your vehicle look newer than it is. For example you cannot put a Y registration number on a T registered vehicle but you could choose any prefix range from an A to a T. Each registration has an issue date which is what you must check to ensure you don't make your vehicle appear newer than it is.

Unfortunately you cannot put a reg plate on a car which would make it appear newer than it is ... so ... to use your example you cannot put an 03 plate on a 1991 car because it will make it appear newer.

I really dont get it, some of the private plates look so naff on cars, they should be banned, seen some where they change the spaceing to get it to look like a name,

 

I think if they need to explain what they have changed it to, it really wasnt worth it.

Bit of a waffle this one my plate on my 96 discovery is PTD 423S means nowt but its my intials my business is called PTS haulage and the best bit is the reg plate was the standard one on my mk1 granny so i got an OSF and a private plate in one, it cost £80 to transfer it to the disco and re-register the granny on another S plate

A guy I now had BDZ 302 a paddy plate He paid £150.00 for it

 

His name is Brian Davis the car was a zepher and it had a 302 ford in it

 

the car is sold now but back on the orignal plate

i have a private plate on my disco but its makes it look old as most people dont realise its a td5 o2 plate and just think its an old h plate disco! Lol!

 

We get people at work buy brand new cars and we put there plate on that has there initials ie. HN04LKS.....this just makes there car look like an 04 plate and they often buy the same type and colour!!!! Bet nobody even knows they bought a new car!!! Weird!!

ive got T900 DEL inherited it with the truck, my granpa payed £300 for it a good few years ago

 

the mrs old car came with B3 OGR ...... WTF!!!!
