jamie956 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I'm now starting a mk2 Cortina 2 door project and need inspiration with wheels was thinking about 18's to be a bit diffrent. Any ideas or suggestions welcome as Im struggling
Fiesta Steve Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Keep it simple Most that try to be too different end up failing, I've seen big wheels on a Cortina before and well lets just say it didn't work
jamie956 Posted October 3, 2010 Author Report Posted October 3, 2010 Seen this on 16s and like the look, i admit 18s are pushing it and a big comitment with the plasma cutter is needed.

Fiesta Steve Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Superlite's They look ok tucked right up in the arches
jamie956 Posted October 3, 2010 Author Report Posted October 3, 2010 these are 17'' comp's i do like the minilite style but i just think 13's dont look right on a cortina.
Fiesta Steve Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 What about 15's as a bit of a comprimise. Not sure they sit quite right on anyhting bigger. Its hard to see in the pic above as the car is sitting on blocks so its riasd up antway.
jamie956 Posted October 3, 2010 Author Report Posted October 3, 2010 Looked at some 9x15''s on ebay but try get tyres for um.
jamie956 Posted October 3, 2010 Author Report Posted October 3, 2010 found this picture sits nice on the road.
GT_lenny Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 13's FTW althuough there was a purple tina in retro ford t'other month with 17" image splits on that looked
BaileyMex Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Your call at the end of the day But I think 18" might be a tad to extreme, For me it was 13's all the way end of, but recently got a set of 15's just for a change, and their growing on me
v8cortina Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 I have 15s on the V8 and have pics of 15s on the deluxe too. I have a set of 18" Image 3 piece split rims which I can do a mock up if you want or you could Photoshop it.
jamie956 Posted October 4, 2010 Author Report Posted October 4, 2010 Mock up would be good if its not to much trouble
killerkerry89 Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 18's would be a bit much i reckon, theres a reason you dont see em like this! i'd say 15's and a lot of slam! but its your car... good luck!
v8cortina Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Mock up would be good if its not to much trouble I will do this when back at home over the weekend, should be interesting

Any ideas or suggestions welcome as Im struggling Keep it simple. 13's are best but need to be wide,15's meh... but about as big as you should go as they start looking odd. any bigger and it'll look like a rollerskate. also you'll loose steering lock and it'll look gay if you need to do 57 point turns to get anywhere
puddy Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 17's fit......... 13's looked too small........ May go back to 16's......... 18's will be a real struggle to get it on the deck with wheel arches and lock imho. puddy
