baxterbaxter Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Hi all! not sure if this is in the right place but sod it, got a 4.6 Rpi rover v8 available and want to stick it in the capper, i also have a rwd LT77 box, however the engine is currently on an auto 4wd, what clutch/flwheel would i need to mate the engine to the lt77 box from an Sd1? would i use an Sd1 flywheel and then any 9.5'' clutch? i know very little about the rover scene, so any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance.
Fiesta Steve Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Ermm, an SD1 clutch and flywheel could work..
baxterbaxter Posted October 8, 2010 Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 could? you mean it would fit but might not take it, or you just mean it could fit?
JP. Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 LT77 will bolt straight on but I am not shure the SD1 flywheel will. Thought there was something with the crank........ Probably best to contact V8kid as he knows more about the 4.6 then I do. In basic the standard 9,5" SD1 clutch would fit but it defo won't cope with the torque a 4.6 will have. Be shure that the flywheel you use have an absolutely flat surface so the more grip the clutchplate will have. Otherwise have it machined flat and after that zero balanced. I have uprated to a 10,5"Mc Leod street strip clutch by modifieing my SD1 flywheel ( drilling new holes to accept larger plate& cover, resurfacing & rebalancing). Stock SD1 clutch systems are nice till 150bhp....... Again V8kid can advise you on several simple clutch upgrades. You can even ask this on his forum...http://www.v8forum.co.uk/forum/index.php
Skimmer Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 I have an RPI 4.6 in my Pop though due to space ive a borg warner 66 auto behind it , no room for a clutch peddle in the foot well , if i see the bloke that builds my gearboxs ill ask him .........i know that my answer has been of no use to you at all.........
