Dom Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Who makes the best all round tyres? and what are they? I don't know which ones to go for and I don't want to buy some tyres then find theres better ones for the same price. Personal experience is better than statistics on this one I reckon.
Mr Sam Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 ive got federals on the fiesta they work fine for me
MightySprocket Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 my mk1 and beemer have good year eagle NCT2s and they are really grippy, Dunlop SPs are the nuts though, thats what im having next
SAMMYBOY Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 I have always used Dunlop sp sports, have used them up to 235/40/18. Great tyres, not too expensive, and very grippy in the dry...Only thing i noticed was that they werent the best in the wet...Cant get better than a Pirelli for the wet in my opinion. If i`ve had yokos, the always seemed to wear faster, or maybe that was just me
Fiesta Steve Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 I've tried them all over the last ten years or so and yoko's work best for me.
caprifan Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Toyo Proxies mate....superb tyre at a good price....my mate also loves em..
groomers Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 yoko's - wear quick but grip like anything! not too pricey as well!
russ105e Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Got yokies on mine too.Hardly wear at all cos its always stuck in the garage
yellowperil Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 yokos for me as well, price isn't to bad do some nice road legal track tyres to
Daggle Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Continental's are good but pricey, great in the dry and the wet too
Slik 50 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I have BFGoodrige on the front and never had a problem with grip but I have Yoko's A539's on the rears and not once has it steped out on me while I have been toolin around. I also have monster camber on the rear end! and do around 75 miles a day but havnt changed the tyres in over 18 months with the camber they wear on the inside edge but I just turn em round and start again. I got 2 nails in one of them so I bought another pair of the A539's, not fitted them yet, but for a pair of them in 195/50/15's cost me £50 Bargin! I wouldnt have anything else
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 15, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 15, 2007 Currently on my second set of Proxes T1's - superb in the wet although I have also had Yokohama AVS Sports which were even better but more expensive
V8ian Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Very dependant on what you want to use the car for, Daily, Track Day, or Drag Racer, I am using Toyo 888r, perhaps a little radical for a daily, but I think they are great, The tread patern looks more like a cut slick, and they are well grippy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/195-50-15-TOYO-PR ... dZViewItem Ian
Mk 1 Mark Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Yokohama`s A539 all day long...@ £35 a corner cheap as chips And a great all round tyre http://www.topgear.co.uk/acatalog/13__Y ... _Tyres.php
Dom Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 Seems like the yokies have got it, and at 35 quid that makes it even sweeter. I shall have to enquire methinks
