32evo
Bought this Mk3 GXL 6 months ago from an old chap who inherited it from the original owner 20 years ago Its the usual thing, looked not bad at 20 paces away but when i decided to dig deeper it turned out to be a nightmare On closer inspection and under all the bodged up previous repairs, i found out it need wings Flitch panels front valence repair to rear valence lower rear 1/4s wheel tub repairs rear arches sills petrol tank repairs behind headlights the list went on and on This is when i first got it. looked not bad from a distance This is what was found after a bid of digging with the grinder That should give you an idea of what it was like, every bit of rust was cut out and replaced with nice shiny metal. Time to get it prepared for paint, all doors, bonnet, bootlid all blasted and to be honest all of these were in very good condition as was the roof and scuttle panel. Time to prime the checks, boot and under bonnet Now paint on the checks, inside of doors, bootlid, bonnet Now the top coat in Ford Evergreen (original colour) Now building it up and should be on the road in the next fortnight. I hope i havent bored everyone to much with all the pics!!!!! At least i know the car is solid now and wont rust again for a very long time , will post pics when its built up and with a nice set of wheels fitted Now Mot'd and back on the road

Nicks53
Same as everyone else has said, what a brilliant job. Just goes to show what can be hiding underneath a seemingly good exterior (from the first pic)...
32evo
fook me you certainly turned that around ! was that a home made front valence or did you manage to find a new one ? looks the bollox mate wish mine was that good Thanks for all the comments chaps Its a home made valence, the part that the number plate sits on was taken off what was left of the original one. 3 gallons of Waxoil has now been pumped in to all the crevices now I will have to decide what car to keep now, big decisions
