Savvi Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 yes, and both mk1 and mk2's (van and estates) are also the same Except the internal cutouts on the mk1 & mk2 , door handles are different
Admin Vista Posted November 7, 2010 Admin Report Posted November 7, 2010 yes, and both mk1 and mk2's (van and estates) are also the same Except the internal cutouts on the mk1 & mk2 , door handles are different Cut outs maybe but door handles are the same aren't they? Certainly the handles on my mk2 van are the same as my mk1 saloon? Going from this pic so is the mk2 estate? Or do you mean the internal handles?
Savvi Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 As far as i kow the internal handles are different ? So the cutout for the handle is different to suit a mk2 handle ?
MARK FRST Posted November 7, 2010 Author Report Posted November 7, 2010 cheers for all your help lads
Skimmer Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 The hinges are not the same mk1 are pins and mk2 are bolt on .....
MARK FRST Posted November 7, 2010 Author Report Posted November 7, 2010 mk2 estate are defo pins though as ive just removed mine mk2 saloon are bolt on
Darran Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Early mk2 estate are on pins. the other 95% bolt on like a mk2 saloon. mk2 estate and van have MK2 internal door openers. mk2 van doors not the same as mk2 van as internals are different,as obove
Sheepy Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Mines a 1980 mk2 van, and the hinges are bolted on (better idea in my opinion) Don't know about the inside panels!
MARK FRST Posted November 8, 2010 Author Report Posted November 8, 2010 mines a r plate estate with pins i wish they were bolt on as 30 year old pins dont like coming out lol
Sheepy Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Is it not possible (with a bit of modification) to modify them from pins to bolt on, I know it means cutting off the old ones, it will make removing the doors so easy in the future,
escamino Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Is it not possible (with a bit of modification) to modify them from pins to bolt on, I know it means cutting off the old ones, it will make removing the doors so easy in the future, When I changed my rotten doors, I just cut off the hinge and drilled holes, then used later bolt on doors. There is no reason you couldn't weld bolt on hinges to your doors.
Skimmer Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Thats the reason ive cut the A posts out of my lads H reg MK1 Estate and replaced with mk2 A posts so the doors will go on easier and he is on about getteing fiberglass doors in the future so could be a good move on my part .. mines a r plate estate with pins i wish they were bolt on as 30 year old pins dont like coming out lol
