Mk3 Capri Electric door mirror????

Whats going on! never seen a capri mk3 with a electric pass door mirror? has anyone else? must be some mega rare option?

not sure what's going on but,i got some mirrors off an old taxi and they are the same bodies as the escort/capri type and electric.so would not be that difficult to wire up.did ford ever offer electric as an option on capris then?

It looks like they did, cable op drivers mirror and a electric pass mirror, original ford loom so no bodgeing

there's a few on the caprilaser forum have fitted black cab mirrors on capris

yeh i have seen, but this is deffo from the factory!

if it was from the factory it would have twin leccy mirrors not one leccy and one manual, then again it could have been done the mobility sceme for a disabled driver as a dealer upgrade, i cant see the factory fitting half a wiring loom but i can a dealers

the loom even in the cabs are ford looms so are the mirrors, they are German offerings

Yepp its factory and it was only one side (passenger side) on the Capri mk3. Mainly 2.8 injectors had it some others had it as an option.

 

Have an '80 2.0 S here imported from Spain where the only option to choose from was the collour ( headlight wash, vented rear windows, full tinted glass, one leccy mirror & sun roof was standard there).

 

So yess, factory fitted one manual & one leccy. Joystick for the leccy one is fitted central dash low down. Intructions are in the Capri owners manual.

Ford never fitted capris in the UK with electric mirrors, the only capri that came with electric mirrors was the tickford capri and they were not the same as the pictured ones, the pictured ones have come from a fx4 london taxi, they do have the ford logo on them, it's a simple conversion to fit and you can see clearly out of the passenger mirror unlike when people use the drivers side mirror from a lhd capri, the angle is all wrong to see from the right hand seat.

Thats the one! joystick in the center, its also got a fader control a bit like the xr3i's used to have! its a 1988 2.0 Laser
