.pete. Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 I've reserved these to pay and collect tomorrow if they are any good. Seem OK for the price. £53 for the cabinet and £90 for the tools. I'm sick of spending ages looking for tools and sockets, and when I find them the one I need is missing or bent. I think worth £150 for the pair: tool cabinet. Not like im at it 50 times a day like a pro. Just need something better than 4 tool boxes and a dozen different drawers to search though for an oil change. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165667 tool kit. I've got at decent imperial set of sockets, but all the metric are cheap. Life time guarantee too. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165572
GT_lenny Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 looks like a bargain to me - good tools at halfords
ratman Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 My 3 tool boxes are Halfords and there very good Also got there ratched spanners very impresed
Savvi Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 I bought one of those tool boxes, if i'm honest i'd spend a little more and get a better one. The drawer runners are not good and hard to open when got some tools in them The tool set is good value though i have the smaller version in my van and use it regually only had problems with the ratchet which i believe is not covered in the warranty. On the whole the Pro range of tools are good for the money and i stopped buying snapon as being mobile and mainly doing electrical diagnostic faults, i lost / left behind tools regually so tried the Halfords ones, being in the case i can check i've got them all before driving off !!!
.pete. Posted December 26, 2010 Author Report Posted December 26, 2010 i've gone over and bought them both. I had a good look at the tool cabinet which was on display and it is a bit flimsy, and the runners are not that good quality, but when I compared it to the price of the better stuff I decided to get it anyway. It will do me for what I need. I can get my axle stands and trolley jack in the cupboard bit, and 6 drawers for tools. For £54 it looks better value for me than the better ones which were a lot more money. Like I said before i'm not going to be using it every day so hopefully it should be suitable.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 I've just been down to Halfords to splash the cash. I bought myself a new helmet for my mountain bike
PlopPlop Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Halfords proffessional tools are excellent, I think they're made by signet, I've had a socket set for a while and can't fault it, recenty got the ratchet spanners and they're very good too
gjh Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Ye go on, go for it. Nothing like treating yourself to some good tools. I love having a browse around halfords, right now my adiction is cleaning products, still haven't got an old ford for it though
squadge78 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 i have the same tool box,the drawers can jam sometimes when theres weight in it but its good enough for home,i have a proper box at work so i wasn't gonna spend a fortune on another.
