hi i v got a mk2 escort 4 door. since iv had it i have lowered it, put in a pinto turbo, resprayed it and fitted a front spoiler. i would like to strip it out and put in bucket seats and harnesses but friends say not to as it doesnt look right on a 4 door what do you all think?????

I keep my 4 door all standard inside as i am not a big fan of cages and buckets in them really but its your car and your choice....you can always change it back if your not happy!

My 2 door is still only a road car but its a rally reo so thats stripped out and caged etc....but i prefer driving the comfy one!

My 4door is completely standard inside and I love it but if you want to strip it and fit bucket seats then go for it.

If you like to drive your car hard then buckets are the way foward , you feel so much more conected with the car when your held in propely.

Take a look at RetroFord magazines goldmember 4door its stripped and caged and looks awsome.

i think i will keep the back seats and get some buckets that arnt so full on. i do agree that 2 doors siut stripped interiors more. i would love a 2 door but i couldnt afford one at the time i was 18 and still an apprentic when i bought the car

@20 years old with a cage in it you will not get insurance.

#you will spend more than the car is worth modifying it so don't bother.

my opinion would be to get some low back small bucket seats, like those sold at midland wheels but i cant remember the name. I'm in Hull also. Let me know if your going to a car show at some point and will come along. RS wont be out for a bit though. LG

Personally cant stand to see buckets and harnesses on a road car....but it's your car your choice

My car (MK2, 4 door) still has the buckets and harnesses in from when my daughter owned it, I am probably going to put it back to original but a photo of the interior is in my 'Garage' entry and some more on Flickr (site address is in my profile). If you want some other interior pics from different angles just say.

It should not be about what other people think of it, but what you like.

i like the look of them stripped out.seen your pictures and also looked at goldmember escort from retro ford. it doesnt really take long to put the interior back in if i change my mind. the seats on midland wheels are made my mamba

Not into buckets and cages myself, id probably just put buckets in the front and keep the rear seat in and forget about the cage. Remember to keep the original front seats somewhere safe and dry incase you want to sell the car or put it back to standard.

One plus point with all MKII's Escort interiors is that they are really comfy even the seats without head rests are a joy to sit on.

@ Fred Bear looked at your photos and yes i'd revert back to the original interior if you still have it, on a W reg L that'll be the Houndstooth trim!

Its your car and as said earlier, if it dont look right it can be changed back. Under the dash in the centre where a console would go should be ideal to mount guages if your intent on mounting them. Get some pics posted so we can all see it!!

Why do so many people keep on with the "its your car do what you want" line ,mk2mickle91 has asked for peoples opinions on what to do with the car . He knows its his car and he can do what he wants.

Hi

I have replaced one bucket with the standard seat so you can compare side by side. I must admit I am not sure which I prefer.

Photos are in my 'MK2 Escort etc' set on Flickr, I cannot add a web address so you will have to get my Flickr group address from my profile.

Ive just had a look and like the original best, it will look better with carpets in, i'd lose that steeering wheel too if it were my choice!

I have the original steering wheel in the shed somewhere and will be replacing the one in it at the moment. It will look completely different when all the original seats are in and I get it carpeted (after the floor pan and boot area are done with rust inhibitor and smooth hammerite).
