SebringRS Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 As per my dads post in the "How to" section, but as i know not many people look in there. I thought i'd repost it in here to see if it gets more interest The question being...... How do you remove ziebarting from engine compartment, e.g, scuttle panel, inner wings etc. As i know it helps the rust keep at bay, but it does look rubbish, and can only dream of what the strut tops and inner wings would look like if it was all cleaned off............minty fresh So yeah, any help, greatly appreciated
john_3.0s Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 hot air gun (electric one) and some plastic scrapers, you can try metal but obviously risk scratching rhe paint underneath.
banarama Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Ta m8 you need more than a hot air gun if its covered in ta .sorry
banarama Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 or may be some thinners on a rag tom
deltamal Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Mine was dinatrolled from new, removed the engine and spent two days with paint brush cleaner and paint brush, not so harsh as thinners and does not evaporate so quickly, make sure you use jonny gloves though not good for the skin!
zetecmk2 Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 go to a paint supplier and get some spiritwipe, much less volatile than thinners which will fook/remove your paint that you're trying to save
accord83 Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 This engine bay was blathered in it, I used WD40 and plenty of rags. and time. Worked for me.
