has anyone had a problem wiring fans THROUGH a fan temp switch at all?

ive recently wired up my cossie fans, with a direct power source to battery, through a fuse, then into the fans, and on the earth side it goes out of the fan plug, straight into the fan switch, then from the switch onto a good earth point.

Now, they worked fine for one day, and now the switch doesnt work, have i killed it? im doing the same with my mk2 without any problems.....

the fans work if you bridge the fan switch wires so the circuit is working fine.

sounds like a faulty switch if they are spooling up when you bypass the switch

if your not using a relay maybe the high voltage draw has fried it?

It still has the full current flow through it and probably isn't rated to take it.

Mine also runs directly through the switch, I did have to fit a new switch about 4 years ago but it's been fine ever since.................only a single fan though.

I have a Pacet Profan on my Anglia van, you need to use a relay. The current draw just kills them. They're not made from quality materials anymore. I had both Intermotor and CCI. Both got fried. Fitted relay no problems since.

25 amps relays atleast, 40 amps relays prefered. When fans start up they'll take peak current thats why I recommend 40 amps relays. Don't have to fuse it 40 amps but the relays will live longer as its 40 amps rated.

Id say ( experiance ) twin fans, twin relays. Its also fail save too this way, if one system fails there's still one system that brings you home.

My 50 cents.
