Type 9 Gear Box - Quick shift

Does having a quick shift fitted to your type 9 gear box...

 

Shorten its life?

 

or

 

Lengthen its life?

 

Ive heard both

Just makes it quicker to change gear,only 10ths of seconds, but means a lot on the strip!

do u just bolt a quick-shift gear lever on a standard type 9 and done or do u need any internal changes?
