banded steels are the way forward!

 

yes much easier to clean than alloys. try having them polished. its a right ball ache :x

 

 

i got mine from james p second hand. im repainting them then gonna stick them on :twisted::twisted:

dave (hes on retro rides, so am i but i never post) was telling me about this tonight.........gazing across the carpark at my lil red steels rubbing his chin.

what kind of copper is going to look at someone's wheels and say

 

'mate you cant drive on banded steels sorry'

 

unless theyre 15 inches wide :-P

Yea I know, thing is though you pays your money and takes your chance :?

 

I think they look hard as nails a massive set of steels, I would have a set on a rag around town sideways beast, would'nt want em on a car that I was always on the motorway on mind :shock:

so what's involved in the banding process? how do they do it? chop off the outer of the rim and weld a new, wider one on?

thre is a few diffrent ways dependin on how wide you want2 go

 

some people weld new outers

some make up the gap with a metal strip

and some turn the rims around on the hubs or weld 2 together

Everywhere I have read anything about banded wheels it has been stated that they are now illegal for road use, In years gone I believe they where ok, but not anymore.

apparently in Belgium they're quite more expensive because they're TUV approved...

:wink:

If one Brand decide to make some, or make wide steel for good money...

Will be good idea, 6x13 will be the wide of the market...
