frankthefencer Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Just about to order my rad from ralloy. What rad fan should i get??? 11" or 12" and push or pull??? thanks again...........
dalmarshall Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Doesn't push or pull depend on where your'e mounting it, ie pull if its going between the grill and the rad, push if it goes between engine and rad.
frankthefencer Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 I was going for a pull one as i am mounting it between the rad and the grill.Just wanted to make sure as once ordered i would be buggered!!
285Andy Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 if your putting the fan infront of the rad (behind the grill) then you need a pusher. if your putting the fan behind the rad (ie in the engine bay) you need a puller. the air needs to be drawn or pushed in from the front of the car basically
frankthefencer Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 If you order a push one when mounting it between the grill and the rad wouldnt it push the heat thru the rad and the in turn the heat into the engine bay making the engine bay hotter???
Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2012 Admin Report Posted January 15, 2012 If you order a push one when mounting it between the grill and the rad wouldnt it push the heat thru the rad and the in turn the heat into the engine bay making the engine bay hotter??? It's not the engine bay you need to worry about it's the rad. If you fit a pusher to push from then engine bay forwards through the rad then a. you're pushing engine bay hot air through the rad reducing its cooling effect b. When the car is moving slowly in traffic (when it's likely to get hottest) any forward movement of the car will stall the airflow through the rad as the flow is working against your fan A pusher should go in front of the rad and a puller behind it. Normally pullers are more efficient than pushers but whichever fan you buy, it's important that it's fitted in the orientation it was designed for.
mk2 mike Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Normally pullers are more efficient than pushers Useful bit of info that I'd go for a pusher between the grille and rad myself, just to hide it and make the engine bay a bit tidier, but thats my OCD kicking in
frankthefencer Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 nice one Vista.I have ordered a slimline pusher as i want hide it between the grille and the rad.
Andrade Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 fans, mechanical or electrical, should suck air from outside and blow it out towards the engine as a general rule
