if your putting the fan infront of the rad (behind the grill) then you need a pusher. if your putting the fan behind the rad (ie in the engine bay) you need a puller. the air needs to be drawn or pushed in from the front of the car basically

If you order a push one when mounting it between the grill and the rad wouldnt it push the heat thru the rad and the in turn the heat into the engine bay making the engine bay hotter???

It's not the engine bay you need to worry about it's the rad. If you fit a pusher to push from then engine bay forwards through the rad then

a. you're pushing engine bay hot air through the rad reducing its cooling effect

b. When the car is moving slowly in traffic (when it's likely to get hottest) any forward movement of the car will stall the airflow through the rad as the flow is working against your fan

A pusher should go in front of the rad and a puller behind it. Normally pullers are more efficient than pushers but whichever fan you buy, it's important that it's fitted in the orientation it was designed for.

Useful bit of info that  I'd go for a pusher between the grille and rad myself, just to hide it and make the engine bay a bit tidier, but thats my OCD kicking in
