Admin Vista Posted January 19, 2012 Admin Report Posted January 19, 2012 What's problems have you had? Mine went into my car with no fuss but I don't know what mods Gary made to shell to accommodate it.

Mine went into my car with no fuss but I don't know what mods Gary made to shell to accommodate it. I had a custom one in it in the first place which was'nt a problem but when i went to fit the 2wd one i had to hit the inner bay in quite a bit.pissed me of because it was all painted and had to fanny it up again.but everything is so tight putting one of these in.its done now tho.
Admin Vista Posted January 19, 2012 Admin Report Posted January 19, 2012 4x4 one is even easyier but not as efficient for power output so I understand
rallyesport04 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 4x4 ones dont flow as good as 2wd ones but the set up i got is good for 360-370 plenty in a mk1
Admin Vista Posted January 19, 2012 Admin Report Posted January 19, 2012 Indeed yes, plenty in most things I'd say.
rallyesport04 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Indeed yes, plenty in most things I'd say. if im honest its probably a little too much but i was offered a good setup from a friend breaking a cossie all cheap to cheap to miss really
PaulMags Posted January 20, 2012 Author Report Posted January 20, 2012 4x4 one is even easyier but not as efficient for power output so I understand yes a 4x4 is straight forward with no messing about but when your looking for around 600bhp there no good your better of with a 2wd.better flow.
rallyesport04 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 for 600 bhp surely you want a trick tubular manifold saying that i had a friend run 490 bhp (genuine not pub talk) on a 2wd one no probs i totaly agree a 2wd one flows better
PaulMags Posted January 21, 2012 Author Report Posted January 21, 2012 for 600 bhp surely you want a trick tubular manifold saying that i had a friend run 490 bhp (genuine not pub talk) on a 2wd one no probs i totaly agree a 2wd one flows better I was waiting for someone to get back to me who had a really nice manifold made and i was going to get him to have it copied for me but i could'nt wait.my car fetched 430 only a couple of months ago and that was with a shite manifold on.and was tuned by a highly rated comp.but since then i have done a few more upgrades.2wd manifolds will fetch alot more than 600bhp.there good for it.
puddy Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 600bhp, what gearbox are you gonna use ? Did you take the studs out of the head to fit the 2wd manifold ? Easiest way imho. puddy
turnover Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 mine ran 650hp on 2wd manifold, not saying they are the best flowing at this power but certainly work, and alot cheaper than tubular custom one
puddy Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 mine ran 650hp on 2wd manifold, not saying they are the best flowing at this power but certainly work, and alot cheaper than tubular custom one Funnily enough,I went to the Middlesex rsoc meet on Monday evening and had a long chat about this very subject with the Cosworth tuning Guru's Mark sheed ( M A develpments) and Rod Tarry ( UK's fastest Cossie saph) , and the general consensus was 560 max on a 2wd manifold, anything after that needed a proper tubular jobbie due to excess heat build up on no's 2 and 3 cyls . They had seen several road engines let go unexpectedly due to this. Puddy
turnover Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 well its like anything Puddy other people do things different ways, some say you cant run over 600hp without 10 studs ,and some say cranks are only good for 600hp,but ive proved all them myths wrong, engine was reving to 8800rpm and no issues, but as said a tubular would be better but only if its a proper flow tested one, anyone can make a nice looking manifold but dosnt mean its anybetter flowing than the old cast one,all i can say is i would use a cast proven one upto 600hp rather than a cheap tubular thats not tried and tested, thats my opinion

turnover Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 used on the road mate but couldnt use the power,so was never at full boost on the road as 888s at 650hp lite up at 110mph even when hot
Fiesta Steve Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 I did a wheel spin in second gear once
Billy_smith Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 I did a wheel spin in second gear once LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
puddy Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I did a wheel spin in second gear once Also known as 'That crucial second gear wheel spin' when me and my mates used to do 'Run wot ya brungs' back in the 80's Puddy ps . My tina would lay black lines at a ton in third with 'Only 492bhp'
