Help needed round headlights

Hi I've got a mk2 escort ghia with square headlights. Bought round headlight kit of eBay and it doesn't fit. 220926539422 that's the eBay item number of the kit I bought. Any ideas ??

How do you mean it doesn't fit? Are you trying to remove the originals and then bolt the new ones straight in? If so, then no it won't fit as the backing panels that the bowl fits into are different and will need to be modified to suit

I assume he's talking about fitting round bowls where square bowls have come out. The hole left when you remove the square ones is different isn't it?

I have the bowls that bolt to car but the new set I have don't fit onto car or into bowls. Sorry if I'm confusing you

It's confusing because the kit you list includes new bowls and it sounds like you'r tying to either fit the round headlights to the square bowls or the round bowls into the square bowls. Round headlights will not fit square bowls and round bowls will not fit into the holes left behind when you remove the square bowls. You need to modify the car to attach the round bowls to it.

New bowls are different thou. They have no mountings for grill. And I have a set of bowls out of my dads mex and they are the same as mine

As i remember when i did this on a mk2 years ago the front panel needs a few tweeks to get the round bowls to fit.

 

Basically you need the round bowls, round lights and round light grill

If your kit looks the same as the picture then it's for a Mk1. All you need are Mk2 round headlamp backing bowls and the rest should fit.

Just had a look at the kit you bought and its for a mk1 escort.you can modify it by making the bracket to screw your grill onto just takes time.i've done it in the past but it's easy'er with the correct plastic bowls then you will need the crome rings and back plates for the headlight aswell.

Just had another look at the price you paid for these.there taking the piiss a bit.£64 i would sell this kit for minus the bulbs.

It was getting a bit confusing

Ive looked at the kit on ebay and its not a kit to convert square lights to round its a kit to convert round sealed beam to round halogen.

 

It is confusing as the MKII Escort square lamps are already halogen and are a better quality and brighter than the round ones (sealed beam) fitted to MKII Escorts (I dont know why so many people want to change them). Some higher spec MKIIs did have hoalogen round ones as standard.
