Kieran Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 Today a 1959 Austin Mini sold at auction for £40,250 after being estimated to go for 12-15k This is, however, no ordinary Mini. It is, in fact, believed to be the oldest unrestored Mini in existence - the eighth example to come off the line at Longbridge back in May 1959 - and, though production had also started at Cowley when this machine was built, it would still be one of the earliest Minis built. Given that the Mini is rightly considered to be one of the most significant vehicles of the 20th century and must surely be considered an important piece of British industrial history, perhaps such an estimate isn't as wacky as all that XLL 27 has done just 30,000 miles in its life, and only one car at the British Motor Heritage Centre in Gaydon - and two in Japan - are known to be older surviving examples. http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20141/l ... erence%3D1

SebringRS Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 To any other "non petrol head" person who just wanted a mini project, that would off been about £500 Wonder whats better to do with it, leave it like that (to which it will only get worse) or to restore it (but also loose the originality) And i suppose it doesnt really matter how many miles the engines done, im no mechanic, but im sure that aint gunna be a quick fix
GJUK Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 TBH, I'd much rather have a rusty mini than this. http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3780579.htm I'm sure you all agree.
SebringRS Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 Too right, you wouldnt look as much of a No offence to any Ferrari drivers
