man thats so bad! feel for the guy, i cant imagine just standing there watching my car burn and theres nothing you can do about it. i think id probably curl up in a ball crying in the middle of the road :( hope his insurance are helpful.

i am absolutley gutted for him.

 

i carry a fire extinguisher but i know that the chances are there wouldn't be time :(

 

really hope he finds another car that he can get attached to :thumbsup:

Thats the point of plumbed in extinguishers and battery cut offs ... the second you see fire you kill the source of ignitions ( electric/ fuel pumps ) and smother the flames in foam.

 

With the best reactions in the world ... your going to be delayed getting a handheld at a fire .. brake to a stop.. undo belts..get out with the extinguisher ... open bonnet.. its those seconds that count .

 

And while we are on about it..another pet hate....

Handhelds attached to the backstays of a cage for that ''racer look'' ..

Show me a racecar with them there and i'll show you fail.

Its not only stupid in a weight sense, its stupid for safety .. at 100G crash thats a 100Kg of missile inside your car heading for your head.

The best answer when i mentioned this to someone at a trackday ...

Smug who the f**k are you look .. " i've cable tied them to the cage so they cant come loose"

 

Yeah..so your gonna grab them quickly if you need them .. numpty.
