fizzking Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 I am new to the site and came across it via another old Ford forum. I drive a 1956 Anglia D/L and am only the second owner. I knew the car from 1956, when I was in short trousers and acquired her upon the first owner's demise, in late 2008. Up to 2002 she was used on the road and in her earlier days went all over the place. In 1977 I drove her to the FSOC Northern Rally, in Leeds, which was probably her longest run latterly. In 2002 her owner gave up driving, after an altercation with his gatepost and she languished in his garage until Dec 2008. I managed to fire her up and make her move. In Feb 2009 she was transported to a local garage, to fit her for an MOT, which she passed in March. I supplied all the parts, which included a full braking kit, strut inserts and strut tops. In the following 3 years, a great deal more has been done to her, partly to restore and partly to make her more driveable. In the latter category, electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, 2 speed electric wipers and MGF front seats (which match the original leather seats quite well). All these mods can be reversed easily, if desired. I have tried to keep her looking original and have replaced bad chromework as much as possible-rear bumper, hub caps, wing mirrors and door handles, to come closer to how she would have looked in 1956. Not in concours condition, by a long way, but IMO better for it. If somebody can tell me how to post photos I can put some on.
