mk1 escort bonnet cable help

right kids i know how the cable attaches to the pull handle inside the car and how it attaches to the springy thingy in the slam panel, but is there a clip or something that holds the outer cable to the slam panel somewhere? if there is i cant find it or does anyone have a pic of what it should look like or where it goes? cheers peeps

there is a clip that clamps the outer cable to the inner part of the slam panel mate. the round bit at the end of the inner cable just hooks on.

I'm sure there just like the mk2's you should have a small plate that goes over the cable then its bolted down on the slam panel.

It should secure to the rear vertical face of the slam panel, see below. Sorry it's the only pic I can find of mine

slight thread hijack but i have often wondered how the bit you pull to open the bonnet attaches (inside the car)

 

 

mine just dangles up under the dashboard and doesn't seem to have any means of attachment

its held in to a upside down U bracket thats welded just above then handle......and the handle is held in with a pin

the u bracket in my car must be long gone and i reckon it's not the right handle either - ah well, just a minor thing
