I have just asked to have my profile removed from the SOSE site..I had asked an admin member, and hadnt got a reply, if i could put a little ad on their site, offering to do resto work on members cars, as i`m a little short of cash to buy another mk2 escort at the moment. I would do everything to a better standard than anyone else up here, for a lot less cash. I have today, nearly a week later, got a pm from the head c**k to say that the mods etc have had a discussion, and decided i am trying to make money, by running a business, and thats not what there about..so they removed my thread WTF I would have thought anyone offering to help people who dont have the skills, premises, tools etc that i have, would have been a godsend..I mean if i could afford to do work for free i would, if it meant getting another osf back on the road. I mean look at the companys we`ve got up here in Jockland...Check out Docs capri Need i say more...Sorry Steve Anyway, rant over....might have another one soon though, i can feel it brewing.........

Well i thought the same mate, but, what can i do....maybe thats why the scene isnt so big up here....Thats probably why i cant get an osf up here, should try down your way..As i said, if i could do jobs for nowt i would, welding a patch on, fine, but resto work is expensive. F**k them mate, i`ll stick around with you lot if its ok...Maybe the mods and admin are mates with Fat Dave... Cause he needs all the work he can get.

'the moderators' decided that there would be a subscription fee to be able to sell parts, and to accezs certain parts of the forum. i wondered why, when it would be the other members who benefited through the second hand parts.

As i said, not wanting to run a business, i make enuf in my fulltime job in the garage...But cant see the harm in helping out like minded old fordys, until i get another mk2 of my own. I have a huge unit i share with Doc, CMPOD will confirm, and its going to waste at the moment..I would have done Docs capri for him, but due to the fact im so picky, he wouldnt have got it finished as quick as Adam can do it.....as in before the classic ford show...lol

Think Posse hit the nail on the head, were all into old fords, and would like more to stay on the road, and that means helping each other...Not always making money, i wouldnt have thought..But on the sose site, its one thing for one person, and one for another. To be honest, why do the sites have for sale sections if they dont want you selling parts to make money..You get more for parts on ebay anyway, most people selling on forums would rather give a fellow member first chance.

i can see forum owners having a problem if you are clearly selling alot of NEW parts in bulk and making money that way but if you change the wheels (or anythign else) on your car and list the old bits as u no longer have a use for them i dont see why you should have to pay to do that .

 

there is a difference between selling a few bits and bobs to being a trader tho ...

Craig is the most conciencious of people i know ! If it cant be made /painted or modified to a fantastic standard he wont do it . So anyone getting him to do work would be in good hands.

 

The only reason im going to get my car shipped south is that Adam has all the parts in need to finish the car . Im going to get him to finish the wifes MGB and get the old gal painted

 

If you need to see the quality of the work he can do ask him for the pictures of his last escort .

 

And we are only a 6 hours drive from most places so IT AINT TOO FAR to get a well priced quality job £££

 

Way better than Fat Daves work( pmsl) and better priced.

Thanks for the support over this.....But i have made the decision to forget the resto stuff for now......I will get a car sorted on my own, and sorted in my own work place. I work in the most modern bodyshop ever, huge!!!!!!So i`m having to let my unit with Doc go.... People on the sose site have just shot themselfs on the foot, and are a bunch of w**ks.. So sorry to let you guys down from this site,...you know who you are.. If there was another way i would do it, but cant afford to pay rent, and not be making a bit of cash to pay for it. Most people from this site that were wanting work done, werent wanting it for a few months, but i cant afford to keep going til then......SORRY GUYS!!

Cheers for that, im a bit down to be honest..Bit angry with the sose site, as was trying to do good things. But couple of people on there, so ive heard, are friends with other restorers, and panelbeaters from up this way...

So maybe thats the reason why...some of the members are arseholes, ive sent messages to say what a good job theyve made of their cars, and you never even get a thanks..

I would offer beer/fags (cigs that is, not camp young men)/ money to anyone that has a engine hoist and can help me with getting the engine out my Anglia and drill out the sheared bolt in the block, also i need a hand converting it from box to rack and pinion steering. After all i wouldn't expect to get tucked up by someone on here and again I wouldn't expect someone to come over to my gaff and do it for jack.

In the first PM from SAMMYBOY he asked if he could advertise on SOSE and said if there was any problem just to remove the post and he would have no problem with that

 

(admin + mods have the final decision!) on any matter which may affect anybody on the Forums

 

We have no problem with anybody advertising a service but without a number of reliable people known to admin to verify this. We do not want to promote any person or business who is unknown to us.

 

If you have any problem with this, Speak with the admin team on sose.

I do have a problem with it Martin! ...Or i wouldnt be making such a deal of it..Yes, i agree i said to remove it if you had to.....but never got an answer from you after i sent you a pm, so thought i was ok to go ahead, bearing in mind i asked you about a week b4 you removed my thread..Your site only seems to cater for people who must have so much money, that they can pay people like Fat Dave to rip them of, or are just so good at doin things themselves...I was offering a bloody good service at excellent prices..But you ALL agreed i was making money of members....Was it not yourself recently that was selling your own items for really high prices....Or did you not make a profit? Dont want to hear from any of you from sose site Martin, with the exception of a couple of guys, you really make me sick with your stuck up attitude towards things. I get made to feel welcome here...If i send a pm here telling someone how good a resto job theyve done on their car, i get a reply...I never got anything out your site. Costs nothing to be nice.
