shaun1.6ghia Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 Good message there. It's a shame so many people are doing stuff like this
theloudboy Posted January 16, 2013 Author Report Posted January 16, 2013 Where there is money to be made people will nick it.
mk2 mike Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 I can't believe classics are still being kept on drives etc. there's a guy in my road with a mk2 Capri and a mk4 cortina estate and they just sit on the drive and road in full view. I regularly pass a mk3 Capri and a 105e on my way to work, both kept on the street. Before I got my garage I rented a lock up in dartford (I'm in Essex) just to keep it secure. Nice to see Savvi got a free ad out of the article though
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 16, 2013 Admin Report Posted January 16, 2013 Yeah ... I took my daily for a service last week in Camberley and walked into town while I was waiting and in a front garden in full view was a mk2 Escort! !
mk2cortinadan Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 my granada is locked away, in my garage wheelclamped blocked in by the wifes car and my neighbours car, they rarely use theres too but ive been warned by a mate that my diesel daily merc is very sought after by theives shipping them out to eastern europe, i cant park it anywhere but my drive, its worth a lot to me cos its mint but if it goes what will i get ?? 3k if im lucky hide your classics away people
frankthefencer Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 On a estate where I do alot of work there is a mk1 cortina sat on a drive in full view !!! He doesn't drive it but he is chancing his luck . It has no security and not even blocked in.

Nice to see Savvi got a free ad out of the article though I understand what your saying but not having garage space and/or the extra cash to rent space or a lock up isn't can be a problem. Lock up rental could cost you the price of the car over the space of 18-24 months and it's not like it's not unknown for cars to be robbed from lockups especially when they are often in remote quiet locations unlike the front of your house. it's hard to know what the solution or preventetive action someone could take to avoid or deter robbery of their car apart from an alarm and maybe a

Nice to see Savvi got a free ad out of the article though I just bought a Mk1 estate off a guy that had it parked in his drive and always has done (owned it 20 years) he didnt think anything of it, after i bought it 2 or 3 others said they had seen it there. I think alot of these cars are either cos the owners have had them for a long time and may not realise or just dont have anywhere to park it. Glad you noticed my reply ............. i thought it would have been removed tbh Got a new unit out now, same idea and same size etc but can last even longer on a charge, also we are using differant sim cards which change over to a differant network if it's a poor service area on the original network to ensure full coverage. I'm pushing these not cos i make loads of money out of them cos i really dont, it's more because i had one of my own stolen a few years ago and know how it feels to come out and see it gone. I'm also on the look out for other products that can be suited to classic car's, got an alarm with in built tracker in the pipeline, although it may need to be professionally fitted.
stuartp Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 it's not like this is news is it, same thing has been happening for years.
Yeomans22 Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 i was going to use my capri for work tomorrow but i'd have to leave it in a dodgy car park for probably 8 hours in an area i dont really like so will be trying to see if my daily will move in the snow.
walsh253 Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Like people are saying its been going on for years ,leaving your car in a lock up away from your house doesnt make it much safer break the lock one night back the next to take the car!!
