Posse Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 The government thing that a house hold can live on £53.50 a week wake up .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2302745/Iain-Duncan-Smith-I-know-like-live-breadline.html
PaulMags Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 What a load of shite.boyo you'd do more than that on stella lol
Admin Vista Posted April 2, 2013 Admin Report Posted April 2, 2013 What a load of shite.boyo you'd do more than that on stella lol Isn't that the point though? The basic welfare payment is meant to be just enough for you to survive, not for you to live comfortably like we're all accustomed to, i.e. with Beer and / or fags available, flat screen TV's and play stations for the kids. If benefits were enough to live the life of Reilly (and sadly many of them are by the time the benefit wise have royally screwed the system) then where's the incentive to earn a days crust if you can sit on your fat backside and live the easy life at someone else's expense? 1
deltamal Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Ian Duncan-Smith said he could if he had to! would be interesting to put him and his family in a cold flat, with a bed, a blanket, two ring cooker, electric fire, and £58, he could choose between eating or staying warm....

Admin Vista Posted April 2, 2013 Admin Report Posted April 2, 2013 While I'm on my soap box I very much doubt that a family on benefits is ever just going to get £55 a week. Won't both parents get that? Then there's child benefit, housing benefit, council tax benefit etc etc ad infinitum.

5tox Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 My other half just read out a very similar thread on netmums, her version of OSF i guess lol as i said to her it may not be a bad thing, im not jealous as im grateful for the life ive got but we both work hard for it Its bloody hard explaining to the kids why we cant afford to go on holiday every year and spend a fortune on take away meals driving round in brand new motors like their friends parents do, the truth is... how do you explain to them that they have those wonderful lives because their parents dont work and rinse the system
walsh253 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Cut the money right back and give them vouchers for shopping might push them to work for a living then
5tox Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 during my uni days i reckon i was living on even less than £50 a week (and that included pissing it up 3 nights a week £1 a pint.... those were the days)
rallyesport04 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Cut the money right back and give them vouchers for shopping might push them to work for a living then i was talking about this earlier i was told nowadays its possible to have a credit card type thing that you could have money put onto it an have items like beer fags etc bared with the use of the card its not right many of us pay tax for people to sit at home wack over telly all day drinking an smoking fag sat on the arse at our expence
johnnyspencer Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Cut the money right back and give them vouchers for shopping might push them to work for a living then so are you going to provide the jobs then? or shoot all the immigrants so theres jobs for them to go to... lets face it even the poles are going home because theres no work here
walsh253 Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 start at the bottom and you can always work your way up in a job,go to college and train yourself.people can always start their own business if they want it enough! i stack baked beans at night in a supermarket part time for pocket money while i look after my son during the week, boring job but brings in a grand a month for the cars!

Couldnt agree more, while studying computers at college i worked weekends packing potatoes. Come back from University with my shiny new Higher national diploma and struggled to find work, cut my losses and started working nights stacking shelves at tesco, wasnt great but it paid the bills until i got my lucky break working in a prison... slowly worked my way up and now work there as a fire safety specialist
sambo Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 If you have half a brain and the motivation, there's no reason why you cant at least get a half deent paid job. People cant be arsed, the whole benefits culture has been handed down to them for generations and i am sad to say that alot of these scroungers havent the first idea how to hold a job. 1
Muppetsmuppet Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Its about time someone had the balls to say enoughs enough to break the cycle of scumbag familys that dont work , and then there kids don't bother etc . I appreciate that theres those that need more money/help and those that are genuine unemployed etc and think the government should invest in employing many more people to assess people on a one to one level rather than just ticking boxes etc . More needs to be done to seperate the scumbags from the genuine . Foodstamps/prepaid credit for gas electric and a bit of travel so it cant be spent on fags booze and mcdonalds etc as welll . Most of these people dont see the point or it never cross's there mind to work as long as they have a roof , cheap pizzas , fags and a piss up paid for them so they should have they means to removed if they cant be trusted to spend there money properly. Like i said though , more needs to be done to seperate the needy from the cant be arsed , and this is a step in the right direction.
frankthefencer Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I know a lot about this subject. I have worked as a fencing contractor to local housing associations for the last 15 years. I work with with people on benefits on a daily basis . I see them all. The ones that are taking the pi55, the ones that struggle and the ones that work but are worse off. It annoys me and it also distresses me. When social welfare and council housing was set up the whole principle was to help people out who were out of work or down on their luck. A council house wasn't a given right ( which people think now) and wasn't meant to be permanent. The biggest problem we face now is that before housing associations and councils , landlords etc used to get paid the rent directly to them from the government. Now the money goes to the tenant and its their responsibility to pay the landlord . Right now think about it... An alcoholic of drug addict or a poor single mum.... what are they going to do now they have an extra £90 a week to collect from the post office ... go to the pub.... get another fix....... pay off the debt collector etc. Its a scary situation that is making councils etc panic and will cost jobs in time . I am not against people in council houses or on welfare but things have got to change especially attitudes towards welfare and its purpose . 1
