Maccyd Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 Hi Guys Just about to start buying panels for the restoration of my RS2000. I prefer the look of the flat front to the nosecone but would it be wrong to change it from it`s original shape ? Steve
oxb1l Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 I would change it if that's what I wanted from my car Although I would change the back bumper as well
Maccyd Posted June 16, 2013 Author Report Posted June 16, 2013 Is there any difference in value when completed. I suppose I`m asking if changing it to flat front will devalue it in any way Steve
Admin Vista Posted June 16, 2013 Admin Report Posted June 16, 2013 Personally I think it would lose value. If you want a flat front, sell the droop snoot on completion then look for a 1600 sport, Mexico or Harrier and swap the 1600 for a 2 litre.

Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 depends how much you spent on the car and how much you have done to make it yours if you love the car and want to keep it do it, im refitting full bumpers and square lights on my mk1 even tho it was converted to round lights before, everyone has there own think they like about the look
dacar Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 I like both and have seen it done before by a friend. Only thing is that people don't realise it's a RS2000 until they read the decals where droop snoots are instantly recognisable. It's up to you though!,
texr2000 Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 I like mk2's flat fronted.... because of that i would buy a mexico as my base. there isnt loads of original rs2000's around so wouldnt wanna convert one. spose could keep wings and bits with car so someone has options later one

I think I will have to start the search for a replacement nose cone as the South African sun has warped mine to hell ! Decision made I think !

mk2 v6 Posted June 16, 2013 Report Posted June 16, 2013 Keep the nose on it don't see many about now and only going to go up in value as More people do what your thinking of.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 17, 2013 Admin Report Posted June 17, 2013 Its not irreversible so its your choice but ai wouldn't do it as it will lose its uniqueness
XjamesX Posted June 17, 2013 Report Posted June 17, 2013 I'd keep the nose, to me a flat front RS isn't really an RS when you look at it. But in the end you should do what makes you happy 1
johnnyspencer Posted June 17, 2013 Report Posted June 17, 2013 i dont like the nose cones but i think an rs 2000 should look like an rs 2000, if it was me id sell it and buy something else or buy another and have 2 if your loaded! 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted August 16, 2013 Moderator Report Posted August 16, 2013 Sorry if this is a bit late to reply but I thought I would add to the thread. Cant you convert it keeping the parts that pretty much make it reversible? Rather than change the wings I have seen a number of years ago small fibreglass inserts that are shaped to fit in the end of he guard that are shaped like conventional Mk2 guards. The front apron is already there under the snoot and you just need to change the bonnet which is a bolt on/off and store. This also gives you a join line just like the droop snoot has, where the fibreglass piece meet the metal guard so the keen enthusiast will spot and know its really an RS. Here in Australia we are fortunate to have both the flat Mexico split bumpered front look and the droop snoot versions with 2lt engines. Both types also come in 2 and 4 door as well.
