Why do scientists spend £m to calculate things like the surface temperature of the sun? I have worked out a much simpler experiment;

1) Drive OSF to work

2) Park in the car park, making sure you don't park in any shade what so ever

3) Leave car all day

4) Return to car after long day at work

5) Open door and get in

6) Touch vinyl seats or arm rest or metal spokes on steering wheel

7) Experience the temperature of the sun on your skin!!!

I used to think better brakes were the biggest advance in cars compared to the OSF, now I know better; it is air con!

Even with the windows down doing 60-70 mph down the m1 from Santa pod yesterday still didn't cool down much...

Would love air con in the RS

Driving back from pod yesterday, window down i realised it dont buffet(spelling???) at all like a modern day car does, main reason i use AC on daily over windows.

Could get one of these tho, like a BUG at the pod

I've not once used the aircon in my Beemer either. I'd live a proper sunroof in the mk2 though :)

I have a full length panoramic roof in my BMW but hardly ever use it as the dual zone climate control is superb. I can't say I'd want a sunroof in the escort though, especially not one of those 80's microwave doors.

No I don't fancy the glass roofs held in with bathroom sealant either. I did see a mk2 with a proper metal sunroof grafted from a capri in it at the last Essex osf meet. Looked the business.

The Thermador wouldn't be much help in our country due to the air being very damp anyway as they run water in them that the air passes through an pushes damp air inside your car. The evaporation process makes it cooler inside. Wet inside your car!!! In this country that's what we fight against anyways.

They do look fooking cool tho :-)

I made one a while ago as they are around £300-400 :-o

I had the window open (and arm on the sill) but still, when I got home the back of my shirt was very wet - a long time since I had to contend with that.

Lesson for tomorrow, work out where the shade will be in the afternoon and park there.
