sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 This is now the worst time of the year when the nights start getting dark earlier, you've got to save hard for Xmas but the worst thing is all the plonkers that have a off but won't take it out just in case it gets wet,or cold,or don't want to use the headlights, wipers. These people know who they are they get right on my txxs Anyway rant over for the rest of us we will still use rain or shine or even some sideways snow
Harry Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Have to agree with this how can people do that, should just use it and abuse it thats what they were built for back in the day so there's nothing to stop them from doing it now , i take my prefect out no matter the weather its my daily like it should be
Admin Vista Posted September 30, 2013 Admin Report Posted September 30, 2013 I use mine in most weathers but can see both points of view. These cars are prone to corrosion so why would you accelerate your 2nd resto by taking it out a lot when there's water and salt on the roads? Personally though I'll use it when it's wet, if the gritters are out, forget it. Oh and if it winds you up that much how others choose to use their cars, you probably need to spend a bit of time relaxing in a dark room. 1
SmokeEm Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I'll be one of them plonkers as mentioned above coz mines off road now until April. Sorry for getting on your tits... 1
NeilT Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 taxed and used all year round just have to work a little hard to stop it rusting
frankthefencer Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 It's the OWNERS choice. Just because some CHOOSE not to use them when the weather isn't great it doesn't make them any less of a ford lover. I can use mine in winter if I choose to but it doesn't make me a f****ing hero . 1
sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 It's a proper can of worms topic but let's think about it If a car is wax oiled and properly looked after I could and should be used whatever the weather.these over the top restos where everything underneath is body painted to match is where the problem lies . I'm not having ago at anyone in particular but the more these cars are used the more we have to talk about on forums like this ,so protect yor cars properly and get some miles on them
Admin Vista Posted September 30, 2013 Admin Report Posted September 30, 2013 On the contrary, it's not a can of worms topic at all. The can of worms is the one you opened by branding owner's who don't subscribe to your way of thinking "plonkers". As I said, I use mine wet or dry (though not when there's salt on the roads) but I don't think any worse of people who only use them 6 months a year. It's an expensive hobby so why not reduce your expenses by limiting your road tax costs, reducing your annual mileage for insurance purposes etc? Especially if the weather is going to rot your car, many classic fords leak too and leaks aren't always easy to trace. Who hasn't dreaded finding a pool in the footwell after a surprise rain shower? 1
frankthefencer Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Over the top restos ???? So because I have taken the time and money to do a PROPER resto I am over the top and its a problem??? I do apologise for having the passion and dedication for my cars and I must learn to leave them looking like sh*t underneath just so I can join the HERO WINTER DRIVING CLUB.
norm1 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 the work the time and money most of the guys on this forum and many other forums spend on there pride and joys they have the rite to do wot they want with there cars and not be called plonkers for doing so ,lots and lots of stunning cars on this forum just look at some of the build threds ,my mk1 if so far from mint but i built it and ill do wot i want with it and if that makes me a plonker then so be it , 2
sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 Oh dear the smurf and his pals are really quite upset that someone has an opinion of their own. I don't remember a brand new ford being shines painted underneath,I could be wrong. Maybe there should be a forum where every body agrees with everybody else wouldn't that be interesting I'm entitled to my opinion the smurf and pals are entitled to theirs ,which makes it much more interesting
sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 That's shiney painted underneath not shines what a plonker
norm1 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 i for one think theres only one plonker on this forum at the moment 1
marky4 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 If I can afford the tax and fuel I will use my car all year round but not when the roads have been salted. I remember a few years ago when OSF had evening meets at the ace I used my car more in dry weather in the winter than in the summer every other show that summer was wet!!!! But as said its your car and up to you when you take it out and you shouldn't be thought of any more or less for either using or not using your car.
jas Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I see this from both sides the cost off keeping a old ford is not cheap look how much parts are now, rust is a big thing and u have to try to look after your old banger,i will drive mine in the rain when i want to but not in the snow as people in plymouth drive really bad in it as we dont see it much come to think off it they dont need snow. But it is up to the person who owns the car it is sad but here i can not go shopping in mine or leave it out side my own house for 5 mins because every car i do leave out always ends up with marks on it i do sort off blame the mums with there buggies and kids with there bikes thats just the way people are now im sorry to say.

Just don't label people as plonkers just because they don't agree with your opinion. It makes you out to be narrow minded and of a limited intelligence . I have never met Vista so don't also label me as one of his "pals" as I have my own opinion and am not a follower . Enjoy the winter driving.........
SmokeEm Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I 'Would' use mine in the wet etc but not in the salt season. I 'don't' coz the harsh reality is that I can't afford to run 2 cars whilst my other expenses I.e. Heat, light etc cost me more. What I save in car tax and limited mileage insurance pays for the increases in winter heating bills etc for me. If that makes me one of the Smurfs or a plonker etc then that's fine with me. Hmmm. How did that Smurf song go???? La la la la la la la la la...
sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 Yeah things are tough out there but we are getting off the subject. If the car is treated right there's no problem to use in the winter,as far as money saving my mk1 escort is tax free costs £ 150 fully comp and is going up in value all the time that's what I call saving money
Admin Vista Posted September 30, 2013 Admin Report Posted September 30, 2013 Hmmm. How did that Smurf song go???? La la la la la la la la la... Something about Father Abraham and seven sons I think.
sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 I think someone's upset frank fencer lol
iandq Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 personally i don't blame frank the fencer getting upset, i don't know anyone on here personally, and if i want to paint the underside of my car then i will, it's my choice, if i don't drive it in the wet, that's my choice also. i have other vehicles that i can use for bad weather, snow etc and leave my mint anglia in it's warm garage so i can enjoy it on dry days. good luck and credit to you for driving your ford all year round, that's your choice, i just think you have shown yourself in a bad light by calling people (that you possibly don't know) names on an internet forum from the safety of your pc or phone. i notice that since you started this thread you have changed your photo and your location. i would advise that you keep your infantile abuse to yourself and your close friends, we don't need it shared on here. but do keep driving your ford, that's what they are for, we do agree on that. cheers, ian.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 30, 2013 Admin Report Posted September 30, 2013 Come on ladies .... put your handbags down. Each to their own. No-one is a plonker on here nor a trailer queen nor a bufty boy ... we're all on here for the same reason - to enjoy the cars summer and/or winter, concourse or rat look. Please play nicely thank you <br />
sidpf1972 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 My location is Worcestershire I have said nothing to upset anyone personally but read the forum you will see two people have said things about myself I think jo is right with the handbags remark,if banter is not your thing lads well that's a shame my location was changed by mistake when I changed my photo but if it helps I will list my postcode ??
