Muppetsmuppet Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Hi , a idea that has come up on another forum to do with all the old cars that are dissapearing . The idea is that if you see any sort of cars being towed or being loaded up ... whatever , you take a picture or film it getting the car and registration and keep it on your phone for a while , and check on your forums stolen section . Might not help but its better than doing nothing . What do people think ? I would appreciate it if people could post a similar message on anyother car forums they use . 1
gwtaylor22 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 I suppose it's not a bad idea! may help in the arrest of the offenders at a worst case or beaten the shit into by law abiding citizens who work hard to keep there fords
mk2 mike Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 I already do this. I've a few pics of mk1s on tow trucks or trailers on my phone from the London/Kent/Essex area with the reg numbers. Don't do any harm!
mk2esccy Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 good idea ill do the same......what about those gps things that people plank around the countryside and other folk hunt them down using its coordinates?....we could start planting them in our cars
stuartp Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 trackers? savvi on here is the man to ask
sidpf1972 Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 MY MK1 WAS ON THE BACK OF AN AA TRUCK THE OTHER DAY DID ANYONE TAKE A PHOTO???
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 22, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 22, 2013 We've had pics on the back of trucks posted on here before .. I think its a good idea.
Mgentry90 Posted November 9, 2013 Report Posted November 9, 2013 Good until we get fined for using phones while driving
jethronoose Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 I think iots a good idea and i will be doing the same! I always slow down to look at the cars on trailers but never thought about this? I think that we should start a thread, if nothing more its a deterent for the worthless pieces of $£!t and one day it could be yours thats on route for parts strip! I will be stamping my chassis number all over mine in really obnoxious places so only i will know the locations... Happy snapping!!!
mk2ratter Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 I never realised it was so common as a truck driver I see I see old cars on trucks and trailers all the time but never even though they could be stolen. I will start logging number plates from now on....... as I'm only just starting my project I will be hiding chassis numbers in many places. Can you buy micro dots for cars same as bikes
katana Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 Datatag is the common system used on bikes for probably 20 odd years and does help identify the easily disposable items and works well. Ultraviolet marker pens are another damn good idea - just registration number and a postcode is easy enough to scribble everywhere on your car. 1
Danish Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 Datatag is the common system used on bikes for probably 20 odd years and does help identify the easily disposable items and works well. Ultraviolet marker pens are another damn good idea - just registration number and a postcode is easy enough to scribble everywhere on your car. My bike had Datatag chips and also alpha-dot dots. I suppose you could just buy a dot kit, I don't see any reason you couldn't put it on a car.
Admin Vista Posted March 26, 2014 Admin Report Posted March 26, 2014 Problem with data tag is not many agencies have the readers to scan for the chips. We had them about ten years ago but haven't used them since. Not even sure we have them at all anymore ! That's not good news, I'll bet the manufacturer keeps quiet about that when they're selling you the product in the first place!
