bazoff72 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Hi got a question for those that might know, ? looking at 6 dial dash/clocks on mk1 escorts does anyone know which one is which? some of them i see have the rev counter on the left and some on the right! and some have the what i would call red line limit and some dont is there any real difference ? im sure there is .please could some one clear this up for me pics below thanks
dalmarshall Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 The one with the rev counter on the right is from a LHD car I think 140mph with 8k rev counter and dished faces are pre 73 mexico, RS2000,Twin Cam, RS 1600 etc 130mph and 7k are 73 onwards mexico and RS 110mph are GT, Sport, and maybe Super 1
bazoff72 Posted March 4, 2014 Author Report Posted March 4, 2014 thank you very much for clearing that up cheers
Admin Vista Posted March 5, 2014 Admin Report Posted March 5, 2014 RS2000 didn't have the 140 mph 8000rpm clocks, they got 130mph / 7000 rpm ones 1
tazrocks88 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 the 1300XL also came with the 110mph 6 clock dash
Admin Vista Posted March 5, 2014 Admin Report Posted March 5, 2014 the 1300XL also came with the 110mph 6 clock dash 1300E too I think.
Herr Doktor Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 In my '68 I have a 7k tacho with a 140mph clock. Is that right then or has somebody "Mixed and matched" them?
rallyesport04 Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 mixed an matched a rs/twin was 140 8k a gt was 110 7k
escortmad79 Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 A quick lesson: Early 1968 Standard 2 pod clocks: Standard 2 pod clocks: 110mph GT clocks: 110mph XL clocks with fake wood: 130mph Mexico/RS2000 clocks: 140mph RS1600/Twincam clocks:
LeeBishop Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Not completely correct. Twincam clocks came with a silver face and 8000rpm and 140mph unlike one of yours that has 7000rpm, neither are silver
Admin Vista Posted April 7, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 7, 2014 Not completely correct. Twincam clocks came with a silver face and 8000rpm and 140mph unlike one of yours that has 7000rpm, neither are silver There's no set of clocks in those pics with a 7000 rpm counter and 140 mph speedo. Though you're correct re the silver albeit the early Mexico was the same set of clocks without the silver.
LeeBishop Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 The post with the clock pics got edited after my post. There was two pics under the twincam heading, one of them only had 7000 rpm
Admin Vista Posted April 7, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 7, 2014 The post with the clock pics got edited after my post. There was two pics under the twincam heading, one of them only had 7000 rpm I know it did, I edited it. All I did however was change where the twin cam heading is as that was where the mistake lay, not in the pictures themselves. The pictures are all the same as they were before and there is no set of clocks with a 7000 rpm counter and a 140 mph speedo.
LeeBishop Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Im only viewing from my phone, so the pics aint big, and the one were on about has a flash reflection, however i can see a 7000 rpm and it WAS under the heading twincam hence my comment.
