quickrack Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 I used to have a build thread but its lapsed for so long now I cant find it. The car was bought as a shell. And then I bought a totally rotted out estate. Then it was built up, stripped, painted, restripped, repainted, built up ,used, broke down loads, fixed, improved and driven. Over 7 years now, and always on a shoe-string budget. It currently runs a borrowed gearbow and borrowed twin 40 webers. Some people are awesome! Anyway you have to start somewhere so here it is. 1st thing thing to say is...its low! Stuck a coke can under her for scale. quickrack Posted May 3, 2014 Author Report Posted May 3, 2014 Fitted new inner TCA bushes today. And a new strut top on the passenger side. Driving a lot nicer now. Also I got the loan of a flat spoke RS type steering wheel. I have been told they are nice to use. So I am trying it for a while instead of my Springalex view thru springalex by quickrack, on Flickr view thru flat spoke by quickrack, on Flick view of flat spoke by quickrack, on Flickr Hmmm. Not sure about that!

quickrack Posted August 9, 2014 Author Report Posted August 9, 2014 Steels1 by quickrack, on Flickr This is the raw wheel after banding. You can see an original below on the left. I bought these to use as rollers for another car but the INSET was 1" more than Escort wheels. So I formed a cunning plan. 220720146719 by quickrack, on Flickr I got Declan Munnelly (kawasaki green Mk11 mental drifter) to narrow a Mk1 case for me. Out with old. DSCI1740 by quickrack, on Flickr Quick compare. Easy to see here. spring platforms in line but ends very far apart. DSCI1741 by quickrack, on Flickr Lovely tasty bit of work that. So nice I didnt need to tidy the weld at all. Just painted straight on. Big heavy sleeve in there now as well. Stuck the "elevens-iser" back in. DSCI1762 by quickrack, on Flickr Fitted tyres, got em balanced and headed to a show, where it was miserable. However sitting in the car meant I got to hear the comments from "what the fook are they" to "they are awesome" and lots inbetween. warrenk Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Looks nice, what tyre size are you running there? Looks wider than a 175/50R13
quickrack Posted August 11, 2014 Author Report Posted August 11, 2014 Just 175/50/13's. However they are Dunlop Sp Sports and i reckon they are the widest 175's I have ever seen. Thats a nice car you have lad.

Thats a nice car you have lad. Thanks mate, We only get the Yokohama A539 and the Nankang AS-1 here in SA. I was looking for a wider tyre for the car in my avatar, currently wearing 175/50 A539's on 8J wheels. 1
Dave Broomfield Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 How much did you cut of the axle ?
XjamesX Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Love the wheels mate. Would like that ford logo in the middle on my superlights, looks awesome. 1
quickrack Posted December 21, 2014 Author Report Posted December 21, 2014 Seeing as Jo mentioned things need improving I decided to update again. Since my last post I bought another Rs2000 propshaft. Which also failed. So I bit the bullet and bought a Grp4 Fabrications new one. Expensive but I am sick of problems with em. And the exhaust needs a skid on the silencer as it catches and pulls the pipe loose. Did that today. Will make a wee bit of clearance between the gearbox bellhousing and the bulkhead while under it. Photos when I figure out how. Comments welcome. Thanks. 1
