MightySprocket Posted February 23, 2007 Author Report Posted February 23, 2007 and if your not happy with any of those wire it to the mains while you sleep I like that idea
MK II Mark Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Also another had a hidden camera which would take 12 pics of intruder (good idea but even then the usless police would still do sod all) I am a copper and have caught numerous car thiefs red handed and put the gypsy thiefing shitboxes to court, however the courts do not punish offenders and let them off lightly with pissy suspended sentences, community service which they never do, its infuriating It's certainly feels that everyone feels that they are getting kicked in the nuts apart from the terds who nick our motors

luz008 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 there are loads of things you can do - just make sure no-one else knows about it. take something off the engine so it cannot start (rotor arm etc..) and visual deterrants are good - i.e. no steering wheel , gearlever to handbrake lock, steering wheel lock... etc etc... or get a dog and leave it in your car
rob-loves-osf Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 hehehe did that dog trick a while ago there were no steering wheel left and no seats hehehe it et em!

mk2_escort_chick Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I must admit i havent read all of the posts in this topic but i thought i'd post a reply and read them when i have more time. I'm so scared that someone will nick my osf when i get it. We dont have any room in the garage for it and i dont want to leave it on the road. I'm currently looking for a garage that i can keep it in. I want to get an osf very very soon and have my eye on a few. The renault's been broken into once already and an osf is a lot more desirable- esp. to those who know its true value. My renault might not be worth thousands but she's worth a hell of a lot more to me sentimentally. My osf is gonna be alarmed, immobilised to the nuts!!!! Oh and a few extra gadgets to stop those theiving bum holes from taking my pride and joy! Sorry to go on
luz008 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 how about a flamethrower? http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/africa/9812/11 ... rower.car/
luz008 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 or running 50000 volts through your steering wheel? http://wired-vig.wired.com/news/technol ... 31,00.html
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 or running 50000 volts through your steering wheel?http://wired-vig.wired.com/news/technol ... 31,00.html I have just read that article & like that idea very much. I think the doctors reporting on that are members of the Human Rights Activists. Since when would an elderly or sick person want to steal a motor vehicle??? It is all bull, one-one thousand of an amp is perfectly harmless, even though the voltage is 50,000 volts. The company is correct in it's claims that you could do more damage by putting your fingers in a wall socket. Why??? O.K, the standard output voltage of a wall socket is now 230 Volts AC, but it's ampage would be considerably higher than one-one thousand of an Amp. These doctors should know that it isn't the Voltage that kills, it's the Ampage... FACT

(knife was an all metal butter type one)
crapichris Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 mate of ours owned a breakers yard in Bedfordshire some years ago. At night he left his rotweiller chained up and sleeping in a scrap granada estate. Came in the next morning and thought "where's the granada gone?" Followed the scrape marks across the yard and found it in a corner of the yard, the dog bouncing up and down on the bonnet of a, now wrecked, Jap box. When he looked in the car there were 2 very scared Asian lads whiter than white. They had broken in late at night for a few free bits, the dog spotted them and dragged the wheeless Granny over the yard. They sought refuge in the car only for the dog to tear everything apart except them. Police arrived, carted the lads off never to be seen again.

Rick Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 thought id resurrect this thread. have you seen my detatchable steering wheel boss? its made by rage and quite cheap. theres various combinations of ball bearing lock on them so you cant just buy one and fir it to another persons boss. ok it dont stop someone taking your car on a self loader but it will deter the average thief the only way around this device is to unbolt the boss from the column and whack another ford steering wheel on. BUT you first have to undo the six bolts. im using 6 bolts all with different heads, some are wierd yank ones too. your average shmo aint gonna be carrying a full toolkit downsides are that it only fits modern wheel stud pattern so youl have to make/buy a boss to fit in between the quick release and column. i paid £30 for mine. baragin if you ask me!!
steve mk2 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 ive got a alarm in mine but its so sensitive that i goes of wen a fly is in the car lets employ this guy
steve mk2 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 to be honest even the highest spec alarm wont stop a flat bed truck and a winch
hatchetman Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 I know a guy that fitted a fuel cut off solenoid, like the ones in a diesel injection pump. He put a switch under the floor to turn it on and off. I asked him how he turned it on/off without people noticing. His answer was 'I drop my keys if there is anyone around'. I thought it was a good idea until someone stole his car. He heard his alarm going off, as he got outside, the scumbag was reversing out of the drive. The prick waved and laughed as he drove up the street. My mate ran after his car with his golf club, he didn't make 100yrds until the car cut out. Needless to say his got his car back. The unfortunate thing was, he also got arrested and charged for GBH. It all ended sweet though as the charges were dropped.

Hve a look at the video section for demonstrations.
Savvi Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 I've just read this thread with great interest. I'm split between the 2 sides. 1: I own an Old School Ford and want to keep it. 2: I own a company that supplies and fits alarms, trackers and the like. Some of the points from both sides are valid. Yes on an older car it will be difficult to hide a alarm or tracking system and if someone really wants that car they will have it. A Thatcham approved alarm system is only designed to deter thieves and slow them down if an attempt of thief is made. Statistics show that most thieves will move onto another car that doesn't have an alarm fitted, in our case they know the car and proberly steal to order. You can add a phone or text dialler APPROX £150 to any system fitted which will alert you if you alarm is triggered. You could fit a Tracking system APPROX £400 PLUS SUBS which will alert you if the car is moved without the ignition on or if triggered by the alarm system and you can then track the car yourself or if its insurance approved then they track it for you. The Imob Cat 5 approved will track the car (text alert you) you can dial it and listen to any conversation in the car and tell who ever driving it to f**k off and park the car up as they are being tracked and immobillse the car from your mobile with a text............ flashes brake lights and rear indicators and cut out the engine when travelling below 5 miles an hour and foot brake applied, i've fitted these to Porche,Bmw and the like, £1500 APPROX.Hire companys and dealer demo cars have these fitted. A Toad, Clifford,Cobra Cat1 insurance approved £400 APPROX etc etc all all basically wired in the same way and its the way they are wired and how long the fitter wants to spend that generally determines how good they are, i have fitted alarms in show cars that all the wiring is hidden in the exsisting loom and virtually invisible. Clifford is the hardest to fit correctly. I have a Clifford concept 650p on my work van as it detects motion and gives a warning trigger if someone peers in the windows also has 2 point immobilliser as well as the nice remote start feature (point the remote at the van from my armchair and the van starts). Somebody has mentioned mechanical devices on here........... a krook or stop lock is hard to removed quietly (i've tried) and there is also a gear lever / handbrake lock that is very good. You could also replace the original door locks or fit extra locks with a chub key type or de-lock and fit solenoids or shield the rods on the insides of the door. I also supply mobile cctv systems that can take upto 4 cameras and are fitted usually in security and Police vehicles but you need the car to be able to see the footage !!!!! Good for vandilism not for thieft. Have a look at my website www.savvi.co.uk any help needed give me a call or email info@savvi.co.uk Advice is free, maybe able to supply security systems for a discount if anyone interested i've edited this post with approx prices just to give people an idea as the questions were asked
X FLOW EDDY Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 This is one of the best threads to date !!!
