Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 4, 2014 Admin Report Posted August 4, 2014 We wish to advise that this show is no longer an Old Skool Ford exclusive event. John Harold (John123) who has organised and run the show for the past few years has decided to open it up to all makes of car and all ages. We would like to thank him for his time and efforts in organising these shows previously with his wife Dawn for the benefit of Old Skool Ford members - this show has come to be known as the final show for the season for many and would not have happened without him. This show with it's new format is now called The Summer Show and all Old Skool Ford members are welcome to attend as previously, however, any questions should now be directed at John and not the Admin of Old Skool Ford. We were approached by a number of people at Ford Fair this weekend asking about the summer show who had not realised that it was now an open show and we just wish to clarify this to all of our members. I'm sure John will be updating his post in the events section when he can with any announcements. Thank you all for supporting this show for the past few years as an Old Skool Ford event. I'm sure that many of you will go on to support John This post has been promoted to an article
banarama Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 o dear not going be the same anymore . wont move for every day cars, I can see that
mk2 mike Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 I didn't realise this either. Such a shame. Glad I got to the OSF anniversary BBQ a couple of weeks back. I hope the new show doesn't go the route of the ACE cafe. I suspect it might. Any chance of someone else doing an OSF summer show?
john123 Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 hi all lets just see how this show goes before making any rash statements about how it will turn out i will update this though these venues that give us the grounds for free which in turn lets all of us go free at least need to take in a bit of cash on the day not by restricting which car cant go on the grass so this will have a number of different years of cars here no different than the wingspan i have spoken to all my usual sponsers about the change and they are behind me 100 percent i only wish that old skool ford members would have shown up for there own event rather than go to silverstone and the like pay loads of cash to get in on food and then get home and moan about the event this show like all the others i have organised on my own will cover a few different cars from all ages and the field will be spit to show this there will also be bikes there and i have also invited the scooter club along as well there will be classic and american cars here as well so plenty to look at i will also be looking into trying to get auto jumble at these events so lets see how it goes and have a great 2 days here i have just got prizes from armorall today and will be ordering the cups soon ps i have allready updated the event in the events room 5
banarama Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 think we will see a lot of the old skool ford regulars fading away ,it will end up like a fecking tescos car park full of boy racers
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 4, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted August 4, 2014 Which shows didn't the OSF members show up to John?
Darran Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 From what I can see it will be the same as last year at the wingspan ?? And that show was the best local show of the year!!!! 90% of cars were old fords....... 5
BaileyMex Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Well, I'll still be going!I know John will have it sectioned off accordingly so you wont have a MK1 Escort parked right next to a Focus RS If the core of cars are STILL going to be OSF, the other groups/clubs etc will probable have their own sections, a bit like the Wingspan Show.I think clarification of the showground layout and other groups invited and where everyone would be situated would be a nice idea, bit like the CF show map to show people that this will still be mainly OSF (hopefully )
iandq Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I must say my initial reaction was 'oh no!' but like john says, lets give it a go, have a good turn out from osf, and hopefully it'll be a great event, it'll be nice to see some other classics, rods and americans there and hopefully any mundane cars can be directed to the public car park. the danger with making events too exclusive is that gradually they become to clicky and new people don't come and the regulars fade away and the whole lot dies out. just remember anyone who does turn up is into cars and that's got to be encouraged , right? the car scene is definitely having a renaissance at the moment, let it go from strength to strength, i'll be there in the Anglia section !! cheers, ian. 2
NeilT Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 It will be like wheels day which is in my opinion on of the best show formats around! and it is at the other end of the show session cracking Idea John!
Kieran Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I like the idea of variety, think it will be a great show 3
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 5, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted August 5, 2014 If I'm not mistaken all new cars are welcome too (I don't think it's just old/retro/custom) ... John, perhaps you can clarify?
nosher 64 Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I like all old cars !!!! So we're still going 1
mr zefect Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Like john says it won't be much different to wingspan and I will be nice to see some different makes and hopefully some hotrods. Also I didn't think it was a exclusive osf event before. 1
damian1969josh Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 i will be there john with both cars.. the only way the o s ford cars will fade from this event is if YOU do not turn up in your cars ...john always does a good show with dawn and this year will be no different 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 7, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted August 7, 2014 I think it will be very well attended as always 1
cdeane74 Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 Like Damien said ,if u stay at home sulking then there'll be no osf's there, so get them out and down to show, good on you john for sorting the shows out (I'm not just saying that cos I got trophy at summer BBQ)! Lol
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 8, 2014 Author Admin Report Posted August 8, 2014 Guys, no-one is sulking, we're just letting you know it's an all marque show
over_head_cam Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 Guys, no-one is sulking, we're just letting you know it's an all marque show
deltamal Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 I will give it a try! a lot of local shows are all marques, from model 'T's to Focuses, but still good shows, it's up to OSF members to go to make a big presence there and be the majority marque 4
Kieran Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 I will give it a try! a lot of local shows are all marques, from model 'T's to Focuses, but still good shows, it's up to OSF members to go to make a big presence there and be the majority marque Be good to see you there Malcy
