baxterbaxter Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 As per thread title, after a 3.09 cwp, unless anyone knows if they did a lower ratio? I'm based in Northampton but travel about. Thanks, Joe. 07475755588
Admin Vista Posted September 29, 2014 Admin Report Posted September 29, 2014 By lower you mean taller, as in below 3.09 numerically? Not that I know of. Most people want shorter CWP ratios, i.e. higher numbers, what is it you're trying to achieve?
SmokeEm Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 I have a 3.09 in my P100 which has a Capri axle. I do want to change it at some point but it isn't high on my agenda at the moment
baxterbaxter Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 Yeah, sorry I should have made that clear. So 3.09 it is.And I've fitted an AMC 360 V8 to my capri, with 3 speed auto, final drive 1:1, hence the current 3.75 diff is going to be way to short for a reasonable cruising speed without thrashing the engine (redline around 4-4.5k)
baxterbaxter Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 Smoke em, would you consider swapping for a 3.75? (will double check it's not a 3.44 first)
SmokeEm Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 I would mate but I am Way Way off sorting the gearing. Probably won't even get around to it until into next year. I haven't yet driven it so don't know what ratio I want. My truck is fitted with a Ford 2.9efi and 4sp overdriven auto. With the overdrive box, I don't really need 3.09 I reckon.
baxterbaxter Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 I'm a little way off too, won't realistically be on the road until next year. I had a 3.09 with a type 9 box behind a 2.9efi and changed to the shorter ratio (and sold the 3.09, doh) Just think with a 1:1 top gear, and no o/d, I will need a 3.09.
oldschoolrules Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 pm sent, ive got a few 3.09s, will swap for other ratios
John escort mk1V6 Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 I thinks it`s best to check out what size tyre`s and what diff the AMG use`s and look at the weight differrence on that info make a decision. In nine escort MK1V6 maybe 160hp do have 195/45/13 with , a granada 2,3 5-speed gearbox , and cortina 2ltr diff 3,44 , and i want to put back the capri 3,0 3.09 diff for beter driving on freeway exc. So for an higher topspeed and lower RPM , becourse the V6 is better for torc than RPM. May be for now it`s better to put capri 2,3 diff 3,22 back in , but i have a 4,0 explorer engine that some day must end in the escort , with in standard trim has more torc than a cosworth 2,9i 24V.
John escort mk1V6 Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 Yes sorry I did mean the rear arches. Do you no if the sills are the same? So am I right in thinking the only difference between the mk1 and mk2 estate is the fronts wings, front panel and bonnet, everything from the scuttle panel back are the same? Yes it is the same.
johnmk3capri Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 I got a 3.09 with a diff 60 quid posted ? Give us a ring 07432421193
