wookman Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 There is a set of RS Alloys on ebay at the moment for £56, just thought they might be of interest to somebody...
Admin Vista Posted December 1, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 1, 2014 Are they yours? Newton Abbot, Devon. One suspects somebody is after a bit of extra publicity for his listing. Good luck with the sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-RS-Alloy-Wheels-6J-x-13in-Dia-/151491518697?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item23459920e9 1
mk2 mike Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Lol I suspect you're right. Odd though, even if I search the exact title description they still don't show up in my searches?
wookman Posted December 2, 2014 Author Report Posted December 2, 2014 Yes they are mine. I hope flagging them up here is not against the rules, sorry if it is. They have crept up to £95 now so hopefully by lunch tomorrow they will have reached their proper value. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-RS-Alloy-Wheels-6J-x-13in-Dia-/151491518697?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item23459920e9 Is the ebay page. Thanks for looking.
Herr Doktor Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 What is a "Proper Value"? Incidentally what distinguishes "real" RS alloys from capri laser type? Cheers
mk2 mike Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 You can tell by looking at them they're RS not Capri. The edges of the spokes are thinner. Escort mk2. (Flat seat on the nuts) Capri: (tapered seat on the nuts) Then there's Escort mk1 And Fiesta alloys that look slightly different too. Failing that there's a really good guide on this site that tells you what's what. 1

Admin Vista Posted December 2, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 2, 2014 Tapered seat on the nuts? The guide Mike is referring to is at the link below http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/ipb/index.php?/topic/64169-identifying-your-rs-alloys/ as to the nuts, genuine RS alloys take nuts that hold the wheel in place by virtue of their OD matching the ID of the wheel bolt hole and use a flat washer against the face of the wheel, like these Laser wheels on the other hand use Taper nuts like these 1
wookman Posted December 2, 2014 Author Report Posted December 2, 2014 Not sure what the "proper value" is but I was hoping they would get north of £150. Fingers crossed.
