Hi folks. Thought I would say hi. I too am a fellow Ford fan and I'm in the (long and drawn out!) process of putting my mk2 Escort back together. I really do need a kick up the ol' jacksie to get on with it, so feel free :-) The wife has recently mentioned selling it and getting a camper/caravan which has given me the heebie jeebies. She will be on the market before the Escort :-D. It's a 1600 Sport, no minter and probs never will be but I ♥ it and hope to see it back out and about some time this year (honest love!), you never know......

Ta for more welcomes. What a friendly bunch!

I would love a Nimbus @RIKB80 but got a couple of whippersnappers so a mk1 or 2 tranny camper or even a Taunus would probs be more suited. Need to get the escort back in shape first really though!

Welcome to the forum Chugg a Boom.

Feel your pain RIKB80.  I had an absolute mint RS2000 about 22 years ago.

Saturday afternoon, my Betty asked me if her and her brother could take the car to go shopping while I was playing rugby. She was carrying with our daughter at the time. Car was on 45s with an LSD...

She pulls away from her parents house to the T junction to turn right... Doughnut.  Straightened the car out for a second attempt... Doughnut.

I come home, already battered and had it both barrels from her and her Dad about how dangerous the car is and that I have to get a family car :-(

One week later I'm driving about in a Vauxhall Nova, albeit an SR.  This was a very dark period of my life for me...

The ones with red seat belts were faster. That's why I bought my Renault 5 turbo!

I know that because I got snapped by the only traffic light camera within 50 miles back then on the way home. I also confess Officer, as the seller never gave me a receipt, I forged one to make it look like I purchased it the day after it was snapped. (Plonker even let me have both parts of log book to save post)

I'll never know if he got a fine n points...

Ta dt36.

I'd rather push the Ford than drive a Vauxhall! No, in fairness I have had a mk2 Cavalier CDi which to be fair was reliable and comfy. And had some great drives in my mates old Kadett SR.

Ahhhh the little darlings! It's easier to spawn more brats than escorts!

was on with a mk2 Escort Estate at the time the first one showed up to have as my daily, was running a mk3 1.6 8v Xr2i in the meantime......both went in the car cull of 2012, in favour of a laguna diesel (which we've since updated to an even more boring vauxhall zafira) and my street reconnaissance vehicle (that's what I protest it to be when people call it one of those little city cars) a citroen c1  :wah:

still can't moan too much I suppose, we did agree I could keep my 2 door.............just have a long list of stuff to do on a weekend and no time to finish it  :mad2:
