chugg-a-boom Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Hi folks. Thought I would say hi. I too am a fellow Ford fan and I'm in the (long and drawn out!) process of putting my mk2 Escort back together. I really do need a kick up the ol' jacksie to get on with it, so feel free The wife has recently mentioned selling it and getting a camper/caravan which has given me the heebie jeebies. She will be on the market before the Escort . It's a 1600 Sport, no minter and probs never will be but I ♥ it and hope to see it back out and about some time this year (honest love!), you never know...... 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 13, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 13, 2015 Hello and a very warm welcome to the forum ... look forward to seeing the car.
mk2 mike Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Welcome mate. Very few of our cars are minters so you'll be in good company!

chugg-a-boom Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks for the welcomes and good words people. I've only had the car 17 years ( ) so it's about time it sees some action again. 1

Lightweightsteve Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 Welcome mate, if you do receive a kick up the jacksie, send it my way as well!
RIKB80 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Welcome along! Don't let go of that car!! buy her a Nimbus then she gets what she wants and you can go to Ford events together
chugg-a-boom Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Ta for more welcomes. What a friendly bunch! I would love a Nimbus @RIKB80 but got a couple of whippersnappers so a mk1 or 2 tranny camper or even a Taunus would probs be more suited. Need to get the escort back in shape first really though!
Bry with a y Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Hi fella I'm new too and the guys here are very welcoming

DT36 Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Ahh whippersnappers........I used to have 3 mk2 Escorts til them pesky little rugrats showed up!! Welcome to the forum Chugg a Boom. Feel your pain RIKB80. I had an absolute mint RS2000 about 22 years ago. Saturday afternoon, my Betty asked me if her and her brother could take the car to go shopping while I was playing rugby. She was carrying with our daughter at the time. Car was on 45s with an LSD... She pulls away from her parents house to the T junction to turn right... Doughnut. Straightened the car out for a second attempt... Doughnut. I come home, already battered and had it both barrels from her and her Dad about how dangerous the car is and that I have to get a family car One week later I'm driving about in a Vauxhall Nova, albeit an SR. This was a very dark period of my life for me... 1
SmokeEm Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 ^^^ Very similar story to tell except I didn't get a Nova SR... I got a bloody MG Metro with Red seat belts!! 2
mk2 mike Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 The ones with red seat belts were faster. That's why I bought my Renault 5 turbo!
SmokeEm Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 The ones with red seat belts were faster. That's why I bought my Renault 5 turbo!I know that because I got snapped by the only traffic light camera within 50 miles back then on the way home. I also confess Officer, as the seller never gave me a receipt, I forged one to make it look like I purchased it the day after it was snapped. (Plonker even let me have both parts of log book to save post) I'll never know if he got a fine n points... 2
NudgerSS Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 ^^^ Very similar story to tell except I didn't get a Nova SR... I got a bloody MG Metro with Red seat belts!! My first 2 cars were MG Metros and I loved em. Then again I hadn't experienced owt else...

This was a very dark period of my life for me... Ta dt36. I'd rather push the Ford than drive a Vauxhall! No, in fairness I have had a mk2 Cavalier CDi which to be fair was reliable and comfy. And had some great drives in my mates old Kadett SR. 1
chugg-a-boom Posted January 22, 2015 Author Report Posted January 22, 2015 Ahh whippersnappers........I used to have 3 mk2 Escorts til them pesky little rugrats showed up!! Ahhhh the little darlings! It's easier to spawn more brats than escorts! 1
chugg-a-boom Posted January 22, 2015 Author Report Posted January 22, 2015 My first 2 cars were MG Metros and I loved em. Then again I hadn't experienced owt else... 6R4 all the way! Move over Rover, let the Ford take over! 1
mk2gemmaandashley Posted January 23, 2015 Report Posted January 23, 2015 Hiya I'm a newbie on here to get your bum into gear before she sells it lol 1
RIKB80 Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 was on with a mk2 Escort Estate at the time the first one showed up to have as my daily, was running a mk3 1.6 8v Xr2i in the meantime......both went in the car cull of 2012, in favour of a laguna diesel (which we've since updated to an even more boring vauxhall zafira) and my street reconnaissance vehicle (that's what I protest it to be when people call it one of those little city cars) a citroen c1 still can't moan too much I suppose, we did agree I could keep my 2 door.............just have a long list of stuff to do on a weekend and no time to finish it 1
