J_mk1 Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 In light of all the recent scam talk, does any1 find it odd that most of the poeple selling parts on this forum are 'old skool shy virgins'? Im not accusing any1 of course, but maybe it would be a good idea for someone to have say... 50 posts or somthing before they can sell? Just an idea, what does everyone think?
over_head_cam Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 or be vouched for ? Good point
Jay_harrier Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I disagree on 50 posts, I've been a member on here for a while & it's only since I've started building a new car that I've become more vocal & started to post. I think scammers are using these forums as they can sell for free and they don't have to be verified in the same way as they would for e-bay 50 posts still won't weed out scammers, it'd be easy to rattle out 50 of those in an evening. But some other form of credability would be. I think the vouching method could work but again it can be abused - 3 user ID's by the same person vouching for each other etc.. Maybe the signup process to the forum should require some form of verification other than an e-mail address. It's the same with everything in life, if something seems too good to be true then it probably is. If in doubt walk away.
Jay_harrier Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Woohoo I've just lost my cherry! - no longer an Old Skool Virgin. Changed my mind now, make 'em pay to advertise if they're virgins....
mk2 stu Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 ha ha ha, yer this issue was raised with posse in a call i had with him over recent trouble i've had, we work on the basis that its a trusted group here, best way to go about things is use common sense, its hard for some genuine users to log alot of posts. Be careful and make sure you can get the goods returned if you have problems.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 18, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 18, 2007 It's not always a guarantee .... some people on here have done 1000's of posts and still sell dodgy goods. Just be careful what you buy and who you buy from .... if you are not sure then don't buy

Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 19, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 19, 2007 It's not always a guarantee .... some people on here have done 1000's of posts and still sell dodgy goods. Thats not good news Jo..... No, deffo not mate ..... sometimes it's the most unlikely people too
MK5 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 very true - sometimes its people who are well known and "popular" on the forums that rip other people off...
