Admin Vista Posted January 27, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 27, 2015 Do you know the car or is there something in the photos that gives it away as an XL rather than an E?
The Transplanter Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 to expensive already at the start price
The Transplanter Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Do you know the car or is there something in the photos that gives it away as an XL rather than an E? E's had wood veneer like the RS custom, vinyl roof, servo brakes, metal air clear, 4 branch, and thats just at a glance
Admin Vista Posted January 27, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 27, 2015 Don't really know much about the 1300e, other than they all had oblong lights. Weren't they the only mk1's to have wooden door cappings too?
Ray Posted January 27, 2015 Author Report Posted January 27, 2015 Do you know the car or is there something in the photos that gives it away as an XL rather than an E? lots wrong to be an E when you know what your looking for, but do a text reg check and it tells you its an XL as well the red wing badges, the imitation wood, missing pillar badges, missing vinyl roof etc etc, dead giveaways to me, but to someone else im not sure, thats why i thought i would point it out 1

Weren't they the only mk1's to have wooden door cappings too? yep. Now im rattling a 30 year memory, they had the metal air filter because it was a HC engine (sport) with a twin choke webber, flared front arches, deep pile carpet, padded 3 spoke steering wheel (sport) and probably more over the XL like heater & wiper speeds etc
Admin Vista Posted January 27, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 27, 2015 I just remember smoking around in the back of a friends white 2 door 1300E, which even by 1986 he'd converted to round lights. He'd also fitted mk1 RS2000 broad stripes down the sides in red. Originality gone maybe but it looked good and went well with a tweaked 1600 X-flow. Plus, nobody cared about originality then anyway. 1
The Transplanter Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 I always fancied an E in the early/mid 80s but they were the same money a poverty spec MK2s, so that's what I bought. Was all different then, you just wanted the newest car you could get for your money. An old boy around the corner had a lovely purple velvet E (probably had it from new) and his son had a mint Aubergine MK2 1600E. I used to just gaze at them in awe whist sitting on my Raleigh Grifter 1
Admin Vista Posted January 27, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 27, 2015 I remember lusting after a black mk1 RS2000 that was for sale on my local garage forecourt. Eventually it was bought by another guy from our village (older than me but I knew him) who became the envy of most of the guys in the village for it. Tragically, it was written off a few months later (or maybe a little more, it was a long time ago) in a head on accident with a petrol tanker that claimed the life of his girlfriend.
Ray Posted January 27, 2015 Author Report Posted January 27, 2015 he has changed the listing and e-mailed me
Admin Vista Posted January 27, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 27, 2015 he has changed the listing and e-mailed me He's changed it in the title but it still says 1300E in the description, sounds like he's trying to do the right thing though
